Query:

I sort of brushed off the
little red-headed elf girl who was nervous about going to Ostagar. She
told me she didn't like the idea of being around all those men and I
kind of meant to joke and say "well, they'll like it!" but she got all
sad and walked off. What's the deal with this gal storywise?

Also, is there no way for me to have any sexy time in the city elf origin like in the human noble origin?

As far as I'm aware it doesn't come up. I invited her to stay in our house while her parents left. I expected her to still be there when I came back later but I guess she was carried off by the tevinters or in the riots...

Also there's only sex available in the 2 noble stories.

It is implied that the soldiers will basically take her against her will. As you saw Vaughn do.

Haha.  Yes this is pretty great.

Cailan:  W...what?

Duncan:  I...would not have put it so bluntly.

I was wondering what the male city elf part in all this was.  I just started my female city elf rogue last night.  Oh man is it a satisfying origin - slaying rapists = WIN.   Consequently, my little city elf has a LOT of pent up rage.

Yeah Duncan looked uncomfortable must be a difficult spot for him having to turn a blind eye to the injustices going on in order to fight the darkspawn, no such worries for Daeni she let the king have it,  if you keep on going after that duncan intervenes and stops the dialog..

You just kind of said "You're gonna be raped - sucks to be you!"

It's possible to talk her father into letting her stay, or fund them to remain.

About the 40 gold, if you hide it, you can find it again when you return.

If you play male city elf the Arl's son offers you lots of gold when you confront him if you just leave girls to their fate. That is imo about the most evil thing you can do in this game and I was physically repulsed to even try that out (and you don't even get to keep the gold). Is there a similar option for female elves?

Yep you get the same option...IIRC I did not even get the money.

I enjoyed the city elf origin, accept for the way it is handled towards the end of the game, it was empty and unsatisfactory... there was not enough story hooks, leaving me with that "well that is it" feeling of an ending. This applies to mage as well (very bland). Origins set a tone but they are sadly lacking in substance in their importance towards the end of the game and at critical points in the overall main story. That said, the game has some very beautiful moments, and overall the writers should be very proud of what they have accomplished great job overall guys.

The problem is there's no real indication of tone in our dialog choices. For example, "at least they'll like it" is really how our character says it, but we don't know that.

How do you hide it?

I wish there was an option to leave with the women without killing Vaughan. I mean you've already killed all his guards. You could tie him up or something.

I never accepted the offer, so I don't know the details. Punk wouldn't give me back my ****es so I shanked his ass.

It should be somewhere on the property, though. I'm ignorant as to where.

I just LOVE the city elf female story.

Guards: Heh heh heh, you're coming with us little girl.

*Soris appears*

Guards: Oh look the little elf found himself a sword.

*Soris tosses the sword to you*

Guards: Ohh... sod.

Wait, it just occurred to me - the red haired elf is going to Ostagar? Do you end up meeting her there if you let her go?

You never see her parents there to my knowledge.

I've played this one as both and it has MUCH more impact if you play as a Female (IMO) cause you get kidnapped yourself and have to escape (and get your wedding party that survives) out of the castle too.

CE Females kick major ass and you get to play them very ballsy.  It's a toss up for me between HN and this one which is my favorite!

City elf female was also my first playthrough. :-)

It does kinda bother me, though, that a male city elf can save his betrothed, whereas a female city elf can't save Nelaros - I mean, he just gets cut down in front of you. It's like "men are meant to save women, but women aren't meant to save men" (or some such). Now, while one might point out what Nelaros does not, in fact, succeed in saving the female city elf, if you talk to Soris he says that he wouldn't have had the courage to come if Nelaros hadn't insisted - and, without that, one would have been a single unarmed woman against two armed and armoured guards. (Probably still could have won, mechanically, but not flavour-wise - this is the game that cutscene-slapped us unconscious, after all!)

Of the three origins I've played so far female city elf is my favorite. I think it's the strongest writing-wise, I mean, you barely meet Nelaros but I still gasped in shock and yelled "Bastard!" when he was killed. In that short period of time I had already gotten attached to him, and that's when I realized how good Bioware is at writing characters. Plus as someone said killing rapists = WIN XD The human noble one was pretty strong too but Duncan's refusing to lead you out before your parents agree to your joining the wardens seemed odd. It didn't seem to fit with Duncan's character IMO.

Except on city elves, I almost always let Vaugrhen out, since I don't metagame. It seems just plain stupid not to unless you know what he did.

Soris will tell you if you ask him.  It does depend on what you ask him first, but he is more than willing to tell you that he's there because Vaughn kidnapped his bride and he was trying to rescue her.

And then you can ask Vaughan about it and he's such a openly racist ass that you pretty have to extort 40 gold from him and then cheerfully stab him through the bars.

I felt killing him was too quick. On my Dalish I just left him to rot.  What he says then just makes me giggle.  Much more satisfying than giving him a merciful quick death.

QFT.  I cherish the guards' reactions at this point.

And, as for having him as a vote in the Landsmeet, I have NEVER let the little (blankity blank) live and have always won the Landsmeet by a landslide*.

*ye gods, what a terrible pun.  My sincere apologies.
