It all depends on what role your favourite characters play, doesn't it? From what I know, some of them get pretty juicy parts in some really important missions.
Like I said, i'll keep an open mind till I play it.

I guess the whole HUGE but insightful character role went to Vega already.

Yep, Vega is the new Krogan.
Did it have something to do with having more legit male romance options?

No. We know them all. They are confirmed by a simple examination of the demo, and also by people who have played the game.
A, it's a demo and some things might be blocked off still since it's not the full release game. People tried to do the same thing with DA 2, some info was correct, other didn't make any sense until the game was released. B, are you talking about people who played the press demo back in November or the full, retail copy of the game actually shipping? Two very different things. My point is, unless you're going to site a reliable source coming from bioware, definite answers aren't a good idea. Not saying you are wrong or what you heard may be wrong, but at least acknowledge it's not completely confirmed untill we start seeing people playing the full released game copy.

I am talking about QA testers who played the whole game within the last few months. While various things may have changed, the information we've been getting from one person in particular has been proven to be correct muliple times.
Either way, I'm certainly not insisting that you believe me. I'm just providing the best info I have to people. If you are looking for nothing but official confirmation, this is sort of the wrong section of the forums for that.
And in terms of the demo, the squadmates are all in there. The codex audio is in there, and every piece of dialogue for the mars mission is in there. They didn't actually take out much. The menu blocks off certain things, but the files themselves are still there.

Yeah that's all stuff that was said during the data mining that happened
with DA 2. I know there are forums with QA testers working on the game,
that is only chunks. As for the raw voice files all being there, that
doesn't preclude pieces missing. The audio files are simply what they
took time to record with voice actors, that doesn't really put them in
context or verify much in terms of role in the game. Not trying to harp
on you specifically, but too many people are claiming 'oh this is how
it's going to be' and it's not always the case.

Sure, there could be another squadmates we don't know about that shows up later in the game, but we do at least know the ones that are already in the demo.
