Question about the DLC Character and the Future of ME

Clone the guy. Then have salarian scientists (you know they can do this) alter the DNA of the clones in such ways as to allow them genetic diversity. (EDI even has records of Prothean DNA that she compares the Collectors to so they could simulate those DNA strains.)
In a few generations, given that no one commits genocide on them, there'd be a colony of Protheans in the universe. They could reintergrate into galactic society maybe even becoming a Council race.
Assuming there's a galaxy left and a council, of course.

There are a few reasons why that is a bad idea. Mainly dealing with what we'll find out about Prothean culture.
Don't tell me prothean's where galactic conquerors or something....

You really think the time necessary to do this is possible with a Reaper invasion?..
Assuming there's anything left after the Reapers... yeah there's time.

into the datamined script from the demo... let's just say they weren't
all that happy go lucky fun time. And if they did return in any real
form, I'm pretty sure there would be no council after a while.
Cryptic and exciting.
...damnit all, it's taking an unacceptably long time for this game to come out!

There's also ethical problems. Is it alright to play G-d like that? These protheans would only be protheans genetically. Their ancestry would have been lab grown, cloned from a single prothean. Many would then be pushed to connect culturally with a very dead culture.
It wouldn't be very fair to them.

You can't create genetic diversity out of an individual's DNA.

Yeah, I know. I'm betting on fictional magic level science via the salarians. Even if they had to put the Prothean on ice again to ensure they have genetic material. It's not the craziest thing science has done in the ME universe (bring Shepard back from the dead, biotics, FTL, hell anything with element zero).

This would take forever, and a ridiculous amount if resources. It would not be possible during or right after the Reaper invasion. You'd have to clone thousands our millions to establish a real population. Then you'd have to force then to stay in one place and breed.

Wouldn't be fair? Extinction by the Reapers wasn't fair. Bringing them back would mean their sacrifces meant something. Including their altering of the keepers which ensured everyone around in this cycle survived. It would be like the galaxy repaying the protheans for their efforts.
... of course, perhaps the protheans weren't the best of people...
And of course it's ok to play God. We play god all the time. It's the basis of medicine to say "No, it's not your time."

True, but even then, why would the Salarians want to? There really would be nothing to gain, seeing as the clones would have no knowledge to impart.
This is true. It would be an entirely altruistic endeavor. And I'm not entirely sure the ME universe has altruistic people let alone species.
Plus repairing from the Reaper invasion may be too much weight on the various governments. Not at all the time to start such a lengthy and difficult project.
