Dang! I was hoping Joker would be a LI for my romanceless FemShep, especially since I heard rumors Vega isn't an option. I knew I saved Kaidan on that playthrough for a reason.

I say the remote control thing is likely, because in ME2 she "IS" the Normandy. This body is prodaly just a remote that she downloads herself into to leave the Normandy.

It is probably some conlicated future stuff, that EDI will explain in game

But I will say she pulled something better than a Cortana.

Having seen the pics in the artbook in full glorious detailed technicolour, I've come to two conclusions:

1. Joker had a hand in her design.

OT: Also, I'm at a loss as to what EDI is getting out of the relationship. It's like someone having sex with your RC car. This is full of what on so many levels.

Possibly remotely, but no credit for partial answers, maggot. What they can't download or transfer from is the blue box. The blue box itself can be installed in other hardware as needed. We haven't actually seen what EDI's blue box looks like specifically, as we haven't been shown which portion of the AI Core was actually the blue box and what portions were simply additional hardware.

EDIT: For example, in ME1, one Citadel sidequest includes an encounter with an A.I. installed inside an inobtrusive, and fairly small, terminal. This A.I. had intended to load itself onto a spaceship once it had funnelled enough funds to do so.

As for the topic, I'll say it again: EDI has, in leaked dialogue, expressed an appreciation of environmental beauty, so she may well have aesthetic sense in her own appearance as well.

Additionally, the practical concerns:
- Appearing human, and having the ability to express/simulate emotional responses like a human, eases interaction with said humans (V.I. avatars appear human for this very reason).
- Appearing female matches her existing vocal personality.
- The female form can be helpful in either putting people at ease or distracting them, two useful advantages that can be helpful in certain circumstances.

EDI, not being an organic, has more "room" in her body for armor and shielding technology, meaning she can fully protect and equip herself without the need to appear bulky or unattractive. So unlike, say, Miranda, she can appear sexy and/or stylish without impacting her functionality.
