Errr....no

You heard it from BSN user Vapaa, pack it up and go home everyone. Eating disorders are not associated with underweight strong female leads.

They are associated but not the source of eating disorders.

Again i don't know how to say this without sounding like a buthead but eating disorders are a personal mental disorder. And it's not Biowares job nor should it be to deal with such a thing.

I never said they had to change it, I was saying i would not be able to play the game the way I wanted.

Is it true that you only get the leather jacket and dress if you played the demo?

I don't think so. I've heard it mentioned before, but that was someone guessing off the filename of the original jacket pictures. However, I can't deny the rumors for sure.

I personally don't care if it's healthy or not. To me some unhealthy proportions look good. Like I personally like it when you can see ribs, but only if you can also see well developed abs.
In any case FemShep just looks like a wimp, and that is the problem, that is why her body looks bad, no matter if it is healthy or not, she just looks weak.

i'm sorry she won't be able to look at naked fem shep, but it's not reasonable to change it for that reason.

No reason other than the fact that she doesn't look at all like someone who could hold their own in a fight of any kind.

FemShep and ManShep are supposed to be completely equal. Two sides of the same coin. Yet their level of strength and muscle tone is miles apart. Why is that?

Women who do what FemShep does do not look like that. My sister is an athlete who competes on the world level. She works out, hardcore, for 4-5 hours a day.. more during the summer when preparing for Team Canada. You cannot see her bones, they are covered with muscle. She is still slender (size 6) but she is in no way built like FemShep. The point here is that someone who does physical things, kicks as much ass as Shepard will not be built like that. Thin, yes, skin and bones, no.

Female shepard could weigh 200 lbs of muscle and could still not look like she could hold their own in a fight against ANYTHING shes against. This game is not realism. it's space magic.
and she is not skin and bones, again just because your ribs are showing does not mean you are underweight.
Genetics determine your body type beyond anything. Some people are born skinnier than others and there are plenty who i'm sure look like femshep and are completle healthy.

The eating disorder is not the games problem, to suggest it's unfair that Bioware made a character skinny because your sick is silly. Expecially when i bet you will never be forced to not wear clothes.
Homophobia may not be a great example, but i'm sure people can get just as seeing a super ripped males body as a skinny female body.

Honey, the woman looks unhealthy... is that supposed to be the image of a woman who saves the galaxy?

She must look like a french supermodel in order to achieve something?

This is stupid, not only gaves women a wrong picture, but it also destroys the self esteem of those with eating disorders by telling them that all the process of feeling weak, hating themselves, hurting themselves, even killing themselves, its ok, because they now, not only they look like the heroin of the galaxy, but they are in the standars of beauty and health of society. It may sound overreacted, but this is how some people feel and act. You're playing with their health beacause you don't want change?

Yea, I'm bummed she doesn't look like FemHawke. Now she had some meat where it counted.

I have a bit of ribcage and collar bone showing - I'm a guy, but my amount of body fat would probably be "normal" for a girl (much of their body fat is generally distributed below the waist anyway). Having said that, I live in a country where overweight is the norm. Auch ayeeeee.

In any case, looking "unhealthy" isn't FemShep's problem, it's not having the bulk you'd expect from a frontline, special forces soldier.

I don't care that FemShep is thin, but she needs some muscles. It's totally possible to be thin and kick @ss, just look at Sarah Conner.

Image IPB

They took time to give ManShep some amazing muscles, so I'm really bummed that FemShep is left looking like a woos in comparison.

It's not her weight. It's her looks. Indeed this is not realism it's space magic, so let's make an unrealistic strong female shall we? The ones you don't see everyday.

For as bizarre as I find FemShep underwear to be (1. those panties must ride up something fierce during combat; 2. "see-thru butt-crack window".... realllly??  ), I just keep telling myself that I'm only gonna see her in that outfit for 1, maybe 2 scenes at the most for the entire game (which are obviously during the romance culmination/s).

Oh and for those wondering if MaleShep got the same treatment in the back of his boxers, the answer is "no".

DAII characters looked too squishy in general. The more realistic, angular style in DA:O made sense for a nation of people's that are basically barbarian kings and queens.

So basically, even though she doesn't look healthy--she "could" be healthy.

Why would I be okay with that? To me that just sounds like BW failed to make FemShep appealing, even though they changed her body type to appeal to more people, but that's just me.

Jack is normal, she has a tiny complexion. But FemShep, with those shoulders and waist? Nah...

I found Jack to be infinitely more attractive than Miranda, or this new Femshep.

Her chest isn't obnoxious, nice hips without looking like a spoon, slender waist without looking sick, arms aren't built like toothpicks, etc.

I also found Jack to be more attractive than Miranda and for those reasons.

Pffft Jack doesn't have any physically appealing features, eyes,  lips, normal body type pffft.

Sarcasm aside QFT

I think you're confused. It's poor choice. Not very military girl looking, more like "I want to be skinnier so I went and threw up in the bathroom." which, as I'd hope you could imagine, could be offensive.

I hope whoever was upset and called it their trigger isn't to offended by this. I <3 U

BioWare fail at fashion.

A person's clothing should say these:

1) I have respect for myself.
2) I have respect for you.
3) I am a mature and well bred/educated person.
4) I aim to make the day a little brighter.

The only one of FemShep's clothes that fit any of these is the admiral uniform.

BioWare you get an F.

Dresses like these would have been much more appropriate and have portrayed FemShep as a mature, eloquent and elegant woman worthy of your respect as she has respect.

ManShep looks like he can hold his own. She doesn't need to be ripped, as she if generally using a gun. But she should look like she is capable of holding up those guns for long periods of time, running with them, occassionally smashing people in the face with them, etc.

She is skin and bones, because you can see her ribs. I never said she was unhealthy, that was nowhere in my post. However, people who are naturally thin do not generally have ribs showing in the way these are. Jack is still very tiny, but her bones do not show.

Some people do naturally look like that but when you go through army training (at a N7 level), and fight people and do as much intense physical work as Shepard does: You will gain muscle. Your ribs with not show. Your arms will not be delicate toothpicks. This is a fact. It's not about her being healthy, it's about how a body looks when it does the physical work that Shep's does on a regular basis.

I hope we still get the dress from Kasumi's mission. That at least had some style, even if I only used it for Kasumi's mission, Samara's loyalty quest and when inviting Liara aboard the Normandy after LotSB.
