 I know that Mass Effect 3 is the end of Shepard's story and not the end of the Mass Effect franchise. Could there be any prequels that show the events of humanity adopting the space-age technology? Life after the Reaper threat? Possibly a show? Just curious.

With no knowledge of how the game ends, I really don't know what can come from it.

Wasnt there some news a while back where a developer said we should probably hang onto our ME3 saves after beating the game?

A IP from Bioware?
Well, I know they are brining back a popular IP, that C&C generals one.
A new IP though would be very unlikely. Might be a couple more years till we see something like that from Bioware. Most we will get is Mass Effect spinoffs (if possible), Dragon age III, and that C&C game.

Rmour is it's going to be something simlair to Dragon Age 2. As in the state of the "universe" is based on the choices we made back in the triology

Yes, we should keep our saves around. Bioware confirmed that.

But they also confirmed there is -no- more games where Shepard is playable. And honestly, I'll miss Shepard. I enjoy the character. I don't know the potential for another character.

But according to an article I read, they believe a prequel could be in order, or a story based on a species before the Protheans that attempted to stop the cycle and failed.

Well it would be nice to see Shepard even as a NPC or even just to reference out Shepard in the new game just to let us know where he/she is. Either still military or has retired from that now.

I'd rather have a new single player story with playable aliens post ME3 or prequel doesn't really matter I'll keep buying them I just don't really want an MMO.

I'd like to see some Spy/Assassin RPG (Sci Fi 007) where you play characters like Kasumi or Thane, but preferable where you can choose your race and maybe controle your squad members.

Any sequel series (sequel in this case meaning having its events take place after Mass Effect 3)  would have quite a task developing a grander plot than the Reaper-one. Taking that even further, I'd feel it would diminish the events of at least Mass Effect 3.

That is, if it takes place in the Milky Way, I suppose. They could always change the setting to another galaxy.

Now I'm secretly starting to hope it'll be something like that. Intriguing concept to say the least.
