For gaming purposes, this entire conceived planet will be in practice infinite in its possibilites, since any one swords and sorcery, high fantasy game can only take place over a very small area of its planetary setting.
For a BGEE, BGEE2, or BG3 game, we will have to be on the Sword Coast, and therefore, from our characters' perspectives, that will be the whole world.
It's still fun to know that the FR creators planned out the entire planet, though.

I'd rather they not involve the Bhaalspawn directly in BG3, though. Sequels have a habit of trivializing or ignoring the events of previous installments and I really don't want that to happen to these classics.

According to other maps I found though, Trademeet should be South of Athkatla and Throne of Bhaal is upside down. Anyways, I would propose a very massive game featuring a good chunk of Faerun to simulate a search, starting right where you left off. About the becoming a god/goddess part -> The Solar could betray you and not return your essence((At least I took it that you had to separate from your essence before you gain all of Bhaal's Essence)) With this setup, you wouldn't have to revert back to level one.
In my opinion, it would make for better gameplay if we did revert to level 1. It would be good if there was some reward for doing the previous games, such as keeping the improved stats that you have gained by using the tomes, but the reward should be minimal otherwise you would be either underpowered if you haven't played them, or overpowered if you have.

I see they just announced a release for iPad. But, will it still come for PC as well?

PC and Ipad release. IF this thing really gets off the ones behind the remake might do this for the consoles. Either way I'm getting it for the PC since I loved BG, the gaming engine for it and just curious on what got added in.
Trent has made it clear they will not be doing any console ports.

Judging by the IPad pic, not much, at least visually. Too bad, I really hoped for a very overhauled infinity engine, BG is a great game, the only thing that keeps me from replaying it is the graphics - gives me eye cancer.

the main goal of those those screenshots was to reveal us that baldur's gate will be on ipad, they don't reveal all the graphical improvements as trent oster said. supposedly there will be a large UI overhaul. The Woldan wrote...

There was an article before what Trent said before they are considering it. You know people will demand yet I think the PC version will be the superior version. Like in the past BG 1 on the PS 1 I did rented after beating the first game I saw how bad the port is. Still I'm saying PC will be the best version and besides I am curious what they added and how thier version of Tutu will hold up for BG EE.

- Fallout is the spiritual successor to Wasteland
- Dragon Age is the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate
But both Fallout and Dragon Age are in the hands of developers who want "streamline" them to hell and back, to the point where they don't resemble the originals at all.
And yet now, Baldur's Gate and Wasteland are coming back.
A good sign of things to come for RPGers, I say.

anyway i do hope that they change the way it looks, right now everything is still too tiny. they could use more room for icons and portraits, right now there is so much unused room, they could fit like 10 portraits on top of each other. besides the portraits and stuff look so cool unlike in dragon age, so why not make them bigger.

We've got a pipeline we need to run content through for approvals, so that limits our throughput on releasing info.
Our vision around BGEE has a few rules and a few goals.
1. Don't break the fun.
2. Fix what is broken. -Multiplayer and UI are top of the list
3. Create the best version of Baldur's Gate possible. - Create new content for the game and work with the creators to curate the community content to make the game better.
I personally like the concept of kicking Throne of Bhall out as a complete original adventure and calling it BG3 (This often came up at Bioware as discussion in hindsight on the series). But, our arrangement is for two products from the existing content. So, ToB is included with BG2.
With regards to rules changes, anything in the original games has already been approved. Any new additions require approval, so we've got to manage the amount of content we can move through the pipeline. We are working hard to prioritize our work to make the best BG we can. The guys we are working with are pretty awesome and the feedback is making our content better, but it does add to our timeline.

And maybe even allow you to choose your own "canon" party
You mean who survives into BG2 and ends up in the cages? That would be neat.
Maybe even a 'bridge' chapter that covers what happens between the last chapter of BG1 and the first of BG2, rather than the narrator telling it.
I was thinking the same thing, maybe have a short addition after TOSC to show what happened to get your PC into the cage and have an option of which NPCs survived w/ you.

I agree, any offspring of the Bhall spawn I would think would have some power/s and could be a target of some organization or perhaps the "grand Bhaal child" meets up w/ chidren of one or more of the NPCs and get caught up in their own adventure. The Potty 1 wrote...
OK I can't be bothered to read through ten pages of guesswork without sufficient information, and I don't know anything about the forgotten realms, but another workable storyline is to jump 20 years ahead, when the PC's direct descendant reaches maturity, and send them off to repair the damage caused by the PC. Deus Ex did it, so did Diablo, Star wars, & Dune.
This solves your level 1 problem, so all you have to figure out is what went wrong, what needs to be done, and why the descendant is the best one to do it.

Funny I actually modded Anora into my BG2 game. I loved her character but you got her so late in BG1 that you didn't have her long. So I downloaded her sound files, did the multi-play/single-play trick and added an exact duplicate of her (used Shadowkeeper), using her sound files. It worked perfectly.
To be honest I think we would still need the original three that start with you in BG2. One is needed for the story, one can be romanced, and the other has a hamster.

Also, did anyone else here breathe a HUGE sigh of relief at the knowledge that Bioware isn't going to be involved here? I mean, when the news first broke for me my reaction was "Oh god.. what're they going to do? This is gonna suck, isn't it?", pretty much the same reaction as I think every Baldur's Gate fan had.. and so far everyone that I'd seen being told "No, dude, it's cool! Bioware's not involved!" they always had the same kind of 'oh thank god' reaction.. Really says a lot about where the company's at nowadays as far as their founding RPG fanbase goes.
