I didn't comment in this topic before, but I am braced for a disappointment. It would be hard to come up with a new Baldur's Gate came because of licensing issues (if any, it should be a 2nd edition game in my opinion), as well as creating a story to put beside what's already a completed story arc. There's still a lot of Faerûn to explore, but why call it Baldur's Gate then?.

It could be a port, it could be a mod, it could be a HD-remake. I want to see it, before I can become enthusiastic about it.

And still I am too gripped by the suspense: after all the speculation we've been doing on this board, on Sorceror's Place, on other places, what will it be?

I would hope it's going to be an HD remake like MDK2. Probably remaking the sprites in HD resolution? Like Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. We shall see. 30 more minutes...

Oh well, if my counter is anything to go by (some of us seem to be experiencing different counters--timezone related bug?) in 20 minutes it'll be redundant.

HD would be nice. I bought BG2 off of GOG.com a while back and really had a hard time getting past the graphics to enjoy it. Also little things you take for granted now, like moving the characters, inventory, spell management, companion AI, etc. required a lot more work.

I just have this 'what if' thought: what if what lies in waiting is something we're all voicing as a big NO, an iPhone app for instance, and that's what being's prepared. Imagine how they would feel at Beamdog, if they betted on the wrong horse.

Edit: less then 10 minutes, feeling more suspence than with New Year's Eve! (is that the proper then and than? It's confusing for Dutchman, both are 'dan' in our language, I keep on switching them - and start talking nonsense because of the nerves...).
