Just because no one will ever ask me, and I want to be completely opposite of the thread. I'm 100% lesbian, but my main female Shepard romances Kaidan. I just like his personality and background, and he is kinda a stable balance to my crazy Shepard. I also really like Garrus as well.
Will I try the s/s romance? Totally. Still the s/s options for me so far (Liara and Kelly) don't fit personality-wise. Kelly is too personable and Liara (at least ME1 Liara) seemed so young.
An oversight on my part; but there is a 700+ page thread on the same sex stuff you might fnd interesting.
On another not if you get a chance play ME2 again, with liara romanced (Gibbed can make a save for you or you can go to Masseffectsaves.com) Lair of the Shadow Broker is absolutely awesome with a romaced Liara (and she is much more mature)

But...I don't see as impossible that I end up feeling attracted by a woman in the future. We never know what the future holds for us. What I know is that now I prefer men. So does my Shep that is just my virtual self XD So if there is a female character that is attractive/nice/cool enough, why not? It's just not in my plans, but I don't dismiss the idea entirely.

The problem with being bi is that I can never join in any of these discussions.
I'm ace; we share a similar predicament.
But I'll answer anyway, because this is the internet and I can post anywhere I want, damn it! *shakes fist*
OT: I don't know if I'll have my character romance anyone beyond Garrus. It really depends on the other characters and if I like them enough. So...basically I need to wait and see what ME3 brings. I'm not against the idea of a character romancing other characters besides Garrus, it's just...none of them have interested me or been able to draw me away. ^^
Damn it, I might as well too!
I have 10-12 playthroughs with different romances (and choices), mainly to see the different outcomes in ME3. My favorites are Garrus, Liara and Kaidan. As for new LIs, I'll romance Ash if she is available and I'll romance Sam if I like her character. And I'll have a playthrough for Vega if he is an LI

For interest, for both groups the same sex relations have come to late and their Shep is already committed to a romance option, a sexual orientation or no romances whatsoever. The inclusion is not really enough to lure people away.
As for the concept the women are much more open to the idea than the men and those that arent are tamer in their rhetoric. The men are pretty adamant (none of that is particularly surprising though)

Damn it, I might as well too!Even if I was straight I would probably romance female characters if they had good storylines...which, in my opinion, they do.

In lieu of unanticipated interest, inclusiveness and frankly my own curiosity lt me modify this topic slightly. If you are gay are you interested in pursuing either a straight femshep romance or a gay manshep one. Im aware that homosexuals have typically not had much choice (in previous games/generations you either had to pursue a straight relationship or none at all) but given you have a choice now are you still going to elect to do a straight femshep?

I've never been at home with Liara. Compared to my soldiergirls (and boy), she just seems like such a kid in 1. Maybe in 3.

I enjoy s/s romances with both genders in games more than I do o/s, usually.

I am not sure if that was directed at me but I'll answer it anyway. I am not a lesbian. I am attracted to people based on their personality and character. Gender (more than just male and female) doesn't matter to me. (BTW gender is different than sex FYI).
Also I am female so if I want to have s/s relationships I would use bi/lesbian FemShep (The 10-12 FemSheps I have encompass all different sexualities) or a straight Sheploo. I really wanted to romance Jack or Miranda but I have a hard time getting into Sheploo's voice acting....but maybe one of these days I'll do one for each of them.
Other than Garrus, Kaidan, and Vega....there aren't male LIs I am interested in. Thane is okay but dying. Jacob is boring and too serious. I like all of the female LIs (even the ones my bi/lesbian FemSheps can't have:(). Granted, none of them are perfect. So my lesbian/bi FemSheps are happy right now. I am really excited to see how a s/s relationship plays out with Ash (assuming it happens) and from what I've heard about Sam (her looks and her job/interests), I think I am really going to like her. <3

2) Kaidan
3) Got ninjamanced by Liara in ME1 and thought I'd roll with it
4) We'll see. Considering a Sheploo for Esteban.

As a fairly straight dude (as far as me, my wife, and two kids know anyways), if I found out that Kaidan was 'bi' or 'hero-sexual' for ME3 (I have no idea if he will be, but it would make total sense if he 'came out'), I would totally romance him with my die-hard Paragon DudeShep. Those longing looks across his terminal in the SR1, telling me on Horizon that losing me was like losing a limb... yeah. It's just begging to be role played.
As for s/s with anyone else, most likely not; I only have gay eyes for Kaidan.

Awesome post, and I agree. I never really got into the Femshep/Kaidan romance. For some reason it just seems to work better with Manshep. Might have to end up making one for Kaidan.Rane7685 wrote...
