As future DLC it could be good. People were calling for a batarian squadmate months prior to the game's announcement, I'm surprised they didn't put one into the vanilla game.

I had it as a suggestion right after Mass Effect 2, I just happen to go dormant in between release periods. 

... Batarians, Varren, Volus, are all prime for the squad member making. Even Keeper 20, XD

The perfect time to have one would have been ME2, think about it. A batarian joining a suicide mission to save humanity? That would have perfectly shown that not all Batarians are racists and terrorists.

I would kill to have one now as DLC.

After release will probably be the last chance we get to really vocalize this. Who knows where BioWare will take this if anywhere once the saga is done.

If they introduce a Batarian into the squad, they should be female since they haven't really featured a female Batarian up to this point. They could be an engineer, infiltrator or at the very least a soldier.

Brags about his trickshots and how well he cleans his armor, and if you bring him along in combat, most of his banter is bragging about how much better he's fighting than Shep and Squaddie #2.

Balak from ME1 DLC Bring Down The Sky will be back, it wouldn't surprise if he was introduced, perhaps as a cameo for a few side missions.

I personally want a Hanhar or Volus squadmate, just for giggles!

I'd personally like to see a Batarian sentinel since we've never had a Batarian and players who killed Kaiden won't get anyone who uses both tech and biotics.

I want to see a batarian SIU as a squadmate (Batarian Hegemony's special forces).

Batarian sentinel who's an SIU agent looking for anything that would help his/her dying people from extinction. For the most part he/she would be arrogant and prideful. At times he/she would come into conflicts with Shepard due to differences in opinion regarding the history between the two races. The Batarian would come off as a jerk at first but overtime, he/she would become less hostile as the game progresses. Based on your choices during dialogue with the Batarian, he/she would come to respect you and form a new opinion on humans or dislike you and stay as a squad mate with the only reason being that he/she has no choice but to work with Shepard.
