I'm pretty sure if you start action mode(Yuck.) with Mshep, Ashly is the survivor by default. Making Liara the defualt romance might be daunting to new players, so the V.S being default makes more sense.

If there is a default romance at all Liara makes the most sense. She is the only one guaranteed to be alive going into ME3 and she is romanceable by both genders. Then again Ashley is in all the marketing, so one could argue for her being the default option based on that.

But I'm guessing that in action mode Shepard doesn't romance anyone. Shepard being in a relationship with another character involves dialogue & story, both of which are being cut down in action mode.

I would agree with you there, but considering the backstory Liara and Shepard have, it would be kind of weird if it's brought up how she brought you back and Shepard in action-mode is just like "lol k liara were good mates but erm ashley ill go for you instead"

I have two of COD games and enjoyed multiplayer for both of them, though the single player games were short and a little underwhelming.

With the addition of multiplayer to the Mass Effect series, ME3 is bound to pick up some players who generally have no interest in RPGs and are into multiplayer shooters. Those players, if they even attempt the single player portion of the game, are probably going to choose action mode.

I wasn't being condescending towards all COD fans....just the dedicated shooter fans who find games with a story and dialogue to be 'dumb.'
