Anyone else not want a Prothean companion?

One of my favorite parts about the Mass Effect universe is the Prothean mystery. Every time, I think about one of the last missions in the original Mass Effect, where you visit the ruins and find the ancient AI. The music in the background was calm and almost mournful. What you saw was the unforgettable tragedy of the race that ruled the galaxy.
By introducing a Prothean - especially one as a teammate - I feel like BioWare kind of breaks this effect. Now the Protheans, who had been your ancient saviors though nobody really knew it, become just another race in a way.
Thoughts?

I'm not happy about the protheans be brought back, but it depends on how it's handled i guess. It could potentially ruin the game for me though if it's too cheesy or forced.

just dont download him he's optional
That's not what the OP is talking about, at all, and I'm pretty sure I heard that Prothy the Prothean is apart of the story no matter what. The DLC just makes him a squadmember apparently.
Don't quote me on that though.

Don't buy the DLC and Prothy stays dead as disco.
You're assuming the DLC contains the only prothean in the game, which is not necessarily correct, and actually fairly unlikely.

If an Ewok can take out the Empire, just imagine what the little fur critters can do to a Reaper.

I suppose it does have two sides to it. It would be interesting to know more about what happened to the Protheans before they met their fate. And Bioware has done a good job at making each race stand out. But I'd still prefer they just left things like Mass Effect 1 - I was a little iffy with the Collectors, even, being Prothean.

I know it is far too late to actually do anything about it, but I would have preffered that the Protheans stayed extinct (or corrupted).

Yeah a lot of people are upset about the story implications of having a surviving prothean that, by Bioware's own reports, is not important. Kinda screws up their intrigue. At least if it had some big implications in the story, it would seem worth it to bring the race back, but instead he is just kind of there...

My theory.
They found a way to extract the prothean DNA from the collector DNA and made a clone. Thats what i'm hoping anyway, as anything else could be really crappy..

But what if I want to get the extra content the DLC offers? Not to mention, I will be surprised if the Protheans don't play some active role in Mass Effect 3.
Well, in that case you'd better kill yourself right now.
I got 99 problems and a Prothean ain't one.

2- he is still only one Prothean to sustain a viable population so only one Prothean still makes the species extinct
3- the old "ancient advanced race that mysteriously disappeared" cliche didn't help the Protheans very much to be unique
