Stasis seems likely since cloning Collector DNA would make another Collector, and from the end of Mass Effect we already know that some Protheans were in long-term stasis.

Yeah, Tony P was right...But the whole Prothean thing is a lot to absorb. It just feels a little weird...Maybe it'll be a really good DLC. One of the great things about preordering from Amazon is free shipping, and having some anticipation time. I'm planning on youtubing it to see if it's worth the $10.

I hadn't seen that link before, so I went to the Dutch site for that DLC, and the translation is horrible, or done by somebody who doesn't know the game, in the Dutch translation, it says 'including new guestroles for all teammembers'. Ah, the fun of automatic translation.

I won't be getting the dlc for it I don't like the fact they decided to not only have us revive/find one alive it also goes to the cliche route by being the last one and by being the last one it decides it should throw its life away by fighting the reapers for I guess the lols of it. I always hated that concept in media I'm the last of anything so I'll go out in a blaze of glory for someone else? It's always been a dumb plot choice.

Also by having one on the team if it knows anything about the past its a go to guide for everything it defeats the hunt for information all work on prothean dig sites can now stop because you can just ask him everything it not only invalidates and defeats why shep had to go through getting the cypher to eventually become a mental prothean but all the work other scientist are doing. There is no need to find that info when you can ask that thing. The only equivalent I can give would be we're poking around some Aztec temple and find a Aztec that lived in that city and he reveals all that happened to the town, why it got deserted, and what actually destroy his people it might be big and grand but chances are it isn't uncovering the mystery of how things happened is thrilling just having it handed to you regardless of what it was isn't.

Both points to this character just irk me its actually worse then Legion coming in and creating the evil geth and the horribly misunderstood "peaceful" geth.

Not quite. We know plenty about what happened to the Protheans. They were an advanced species, they were taken by surprise, they tried to save themselves by putting scientists into stasis, in the end they failed and were destroyed by the Reapers.

But we didn't interact with them. Their actions echo - they disabled the Reapers' tricky Citadel relay trap - and we shot some of their corrupted descendents up, but they were gone. Like I said, the Prothean story was a tragedy and unforgettable. Bringing the Protheans back was a mistake, but not one that can't be made into some good. I'll probably still buy the DLC and who knows, perhaps I will love it despite what it did.

Prothy is just fan service. A way for you to gloat "I HAZ A REAL LIVE PROTHEAN ON MY SHIP! NYAAAAAH!"

He does nothing what so ever. He adds no new information you don't already know. Download him for your personal props or don't. He doesn't impact the end game or the storyline if you don't have him. Without the DLC he is just another NPC you see around the universe. With it, he's a potential squaddie, but we all know no one will ever use him because everyone's squad is made up of Bro Squaddie and Love Squaddie.

And I really doubt that "Prothy" is the only prothean in the game. I mean come on people.

But the collectors started out as protheans they became what we know as collectors today due to reaper tampering. So a collector is just a souped up version of a prothean doesn't make it any better infact it makes it worse we're now teaming up with a second mook class we use to blow away now again we have the poor misunderstood mook guy who really wants to save us for no other reason then he feels bad. Again another Legion we now have poor collectors who couldn't stop the genocide their other half made on the galaxy and saw fit to stay silent on said genocide till now.

Personally I would of liked a short stubby Volus Biotic God on my team, but as a replacement he will do fine.

One of my favorite parts about the Mass Effect universe is the Prothean mystery. Every time, I think about one of the last missions in the original Mass Effect, where you visit the ruins and find the ancient AI. The music in the background was calm and almost mournful. What you saw was the unforgettable tragedy of the race that ruled the galaxy.

By introducing a Prothean - especially one as a teammate - I feel like BioWare kind of breaks this effect. Now the Protheans, who had been your ancient saviors though nobody really knew it, become just another race in a way.
