So... Does this mean female Turians in-game? Cause I think this means female Turians in-game. Or does it?

EDIT: By in-game I mean in ME3

Who knows. They said we saw a female Salarian already. Don't recall that either.

A "fringe" is just the outer most edge of something...

I know what fringe is, and this still doesn't do it for me. Not just me, there have been several threads about this in the past. They're more like "Protrusions," than "Fringe," if you want to get nitpicky about it.

I think Bioware was simply at a loss for anything creative to do when "Desgining," their females.

You're not happy with it because it doesn't fit with the definition you and several others made up when they heard what the bachelor party turian and what Garrus said.  Y'all jumped to conclusions.  Which is understandable because the first thing you think of when a turian says asari look like blue turians because of the head fringe is is the head spikes they have.  Of course that guy never said "female turians", just "blue turians" - and even if he was talking about females, he might've been talking about the curvature of the female turian head fringe.  It's a stretch to see that, but they can't see the human-asari similarity, so why not?  Their brains are probably just tuned to notice different details more.

As for the rationale of the design - it was probably in keeping with their avian theme.  Be glad they took influence form one of the many bird species where the males have more plumage (e.g. peacocks), rather than the ones where you can barely tell the difference.

Jumped to conclusions? Really? Despite the fact that both references to their head "Fringe," are quite clear.

The bachelor did say "Blue turians," because he was comparing an Asari's fringe to their own, because Asari fringe and "Male," fringe do have striking similarities. Just as obvious is that he's probably straight, considering his conversation his coworkers and his attitude toward Asari in general; so its safe to assume that when he said "Blue Turians," he also meant "Female Turians." If not, he probably would have specified.

Garrus is straight; so it can implied that he was referring explicitly to female turians. "If you were a turian," which means this is how he would flirt with another turian. Again, given the context in-game of the word "Head-Fringe," its fair to say that both Female and Male Turians had the same style.

Asari and Male Turians are both referred to having "Head-Fringe," and considering their relatively similar apperence, it is easily implied that this is what "Head-Fringe," looks like. That "Female," Turian had nothing that looked like the other two examples.

I think its safe to say that the Dark Horse thing was a screw up and you aren't really meant to easily tell them apart...

He probably is straight, but like I said, he could easily have been talking about a similarity that is tenuous to us humans - the turian just doesn't see how humans and asari look similar (let alone identical)... doesn't that say something to you?  For all we know the similarity the turian was talking about might have been the way the female turian fringe curve upwards at the tips (male turian fringes don't really do that; they're pretty much straight).

Garrus is straight; so it can implied that he was referring explicitly to female turians. "If you were a turian," which means this is how he would flirt with another turian. Of course he was referencing female turians, but he never described what the female turian fringe looks like :/  You're just assuming the female fringe includes head spikes because the male fringe does.

Like I said before, this is of course what we're all going to think, but seeing as their appearance in Evolution is canon, we simply have to accept the twist that this is not the way in which the asari and female fringes are similar.  It might be a stretch to see the "upwardly curved tips" similarity, but if the turian completely fails to see how blatantly identical humans are to asari, it really isn't.

Deception was written by an external writer who got so many things wrong it was barely consistent with the established universe; you can't say the same of Evolution.

It did have some (IMHO) serious issues regarding the terms on which General Williams left/was discharged from the Systems Alliance military, everybody speaking to each other despite the whole "first contact" issue. Dark Horse doesn't always do a good job drawing certain things (Flat-Wrex) either.

As far as I'm concerned the games > other sources when it comes to what's canon. Maybe you'll see female turians in ME3, maybe probably you won't. But as far as I'm concerned there canon appearance isn't established until it appears in a game.

When did this become lore?

Retcon?

In Redemption human characters were able to differentiate the males from females on sight.

It was in some comic. The female Turian basically has rounded mandibles instead sharp ones. I'll try and get a pic.

Here

The only appearance of turian females is in ME: Evolution, and the easiest way to identify tehm it by the lack of "horns" of the males.

EDIT: By in-game I mean in ME3

Garrus was a female turian all along! The translator kept mixing up the word for he and she since the pronoun in the Turian language is gender neutral and is assumed to be referring to male by the galactic translator, also Garrus is a lesbian which is why she was a romance for Femshep. Also for those who say 'wouldn't a shepard who romanced him know the difference?' there are species, such as hyena, where the females have a penis and Shepard just didn't see the difference!:alien:

I still don't get it, does that mean that Bioware has no idea how to make female Turians, thus they are not in the game OR does that mean they are in the game but since they have no boobs they find people too stupid to distuinguish them? They could clarify, that's stupid evasive answer.
I don't want them to look like Asari, I just want them in game, finally.

Does it always have to obvious physical features?Maybe distinct female voice.

This my view of non-game related stuff in the ME'verse. I'll take with a handful of salt TILL it appears in a game.

I hope it's at least distinct female voice, but I worry that we simply won't meet any and Bioware will later say that some of the background-not-talking-at-all NPCs was female turians. <_<

Humans are unique in that we have a certain degree of biodiversity amongst our species, especially between males and females.

First of all, no breasts.

Getting that out of the way, they could be slightly smaller and slighter than males (following some types of bird dimorphism). A shorter fringe or no fringe (like in the comics). Round their mandibles a bit and soften up their features (less hard angles on their face plates and larger eyes), Then add a female voice and there you go.

They could probably get away with giving them the same animations as male turians.

I like your idea very much. Give them some obvious feminine features with avian qualities. And I don't think they need breasts their not even mammals but then again what about Asari or Qurians.
