Voice chat helps A LOT. When playing with my regular group of friends and somebody needs help badly, they'll call out, "I need an adult!" First time my buddy did that I believe we lost the round because we were laughing too much. Now it's a staple of our in-game banter.IGoosI wrote...

Pretty sure she's talking about how a Krogan is so big that it's hard to see past him on your screen where the female human is petite and easier to see around. No disrespect, just clarifying. At least, I think that's what she's talking about.HolyAvenger wrote...

Female humans have smaller posture and as such obscure less of the screen.
Pretty sure the hitboxes in ME3 are the same regardless of whether you male or female characters.

And yes - games DO need more women! oh, and you guys should totally talk more! (basing this off the couple of comments i read a few pages back about hardly using your mic) believe it or not, there ARE some pretty decent people out there haha! Oh, and if they're like me, most of the time are just too shy to start talking on my own anyways.
Hang on did you just admit to talking to yourself?![]()
And yes there are plenty of decent people out there the problem is wading through the muppets to find em. At any rate if others don't talk I don't unless something really needs to be voiced. Example me and one guy left alive one game I had to revive him whilst surrounded by all manner of ungodly abominations at which point my advice was simple "run" if he hadn't have listened we would have been mauled. Who said voice chat is no use?
You know what I mean! Everytime you get an echo over the mic, or hear a recording of yourself. I don't know if this makes sense, but people hear themselves talk all the time, but somehow it just sounds different when you hear it from a source other than your mouth ....

this might be a bit off-topic, but does anyone else here get weirded out when they hear their own voice?)
It unnerves me whenever I hear myself through someone else's open mic, to the point where I stop talking.
Glad to hear I'm not alone

It's strange to me that so many find it weird I'm totally un-phased by it personally. Maybe I just love the sound of my own voice

It’s sad that some girls won’t use mics just so they won’t be identified as a female.

I always use my mic, I don’t care if people know I’m a girl. If no one else is using one, the only time I talk is to call out the big bad enemies, which no one has had a problem with. I love to play with people with mics, I think it helps with teamwork. As long as they’re not just talking to talk it’s fine (Or singing…hell no). You can meet some pretty good people via chat. And when I’m playing with a group of mature guys who throw out innuendos, I’m cool with it. I grew up with that. I can understand why some girls aren’t, though.

I applaud your attitude and to further that point. I actually met my ex girlfriend through gaming online and getting to know her over voice chat and beyond. True story.
So I guess what I'm driving at is you never know how friendly you might get with people. At the very least you got a block button for the nutcases.

I've had to listen to my own voice quite a few times over the years through work etc so maybe I got used to it. Also a couple women have claimed to swoon over my accent (scottish) so I figured it can't be bad lol.Excelsior117 wrote...

Although I am really amazed that ppl are stil astonished about female gamers out there...I would have thought that they are pretty common since WoW. Still a minority but not exotic at all *shrugs*

Yeah but common in games like WoW and like Ellendaire mentioned WoW is swarming with women. Outside of rpg's is where the shock sets in on some guys heh. Again though without the chat people wouldn't even know if the people they are playing with are guys or girls and typically just assume guy as was the norm before. Unless they have a name like GamerGir1 or something.m00nsister wrote...

Even with an obviously female gamertag I still get "Are you really a girl?!" if I don't say anything right away.
