Are males really that dumb and hopeless that they turn into utter idiots whenever they hear a female speaking? Or just using teh intertubez? It's kinda scary that so many posts report such behavior. Anyway - the question of difference between number of male and female players depending on age and country (you bet!) would make quite an interesting research ;]

No, they are dumb and hopeless by default. Welcome to humanty! :D

When I hear a female voice on the mic, my initial thought is "actually a 12-year-old boy".

Either way, I could care less. I'm playing a game, not a dating service. I'll tell you the same thing I tell the guys: "There's a goddamn Phantom behind you."

Me, on PC. But I don't play Multiplayer. Never had an interest in it. And truth be told, after the ending, I've really had no motivation to play ME3 again.

I agree. Girl goin' online with mic is gonna get spammed with idiotic messages/offers. I forbid my better half playing online with mic, mainly because I want to teleport through my X360 and slit their throats whenever I hear/read what they are saying.

to the poster - if I infect her with ME3 MP, I'll make her give ya a ring. but please, no dirty talking ;)

I personally would not be cool with my husband trying to forbid me. I'm old enough to make my own choices and I can certainly take care of myself. Also, I don't know if it's better on pc but the few times I've talked, people have treated me like any other gamer.

This. My husband knows I'm a big girl, and I appreciate that he's defensive on my behalf when the need arises. But most of the time, he's doing his thing online and I'm doing mine. He'd join me playing this if we didn't have to buy a full version of ME3 in order for him to play the MP with me.

My next agenda is to find a husband who plays video games! Part of me is secretly scared that I'll marry someone who doesn't play video games, making it tough for me to find time to enjoy a good game or two. I'm jelly of you, ladies.

I think it might be a little easier for you though.  There's a much better chance in finding a guy that will game with you than me finding a girl that will share that interest.

In fact, when my ex decided to dump me, "playing video games" all of a sudden became something she couldn't stand about me.  So now I'm afraid if I don't find a girl who likes gaming that it's going to become a problem later down the line because it's one of my favorite things to do.

Research? WUT?

Have not been gaming long? It happens a lot. In the right community not as much.

Been gaming for a long time now. Just not really often with voice chat with random people - if so, then mostly with friends and such. And what I meant is how male and female gamers are perceived and what are the proportions. I'd say that over 80% of people I spend time with are female and either they wouldn't admit (another funny question - why would someone hide the fact they play games) or almost none of them play. No such thing when it comes to male acquaintances. Luckily they are not bunch of morons who go crazy whenever they meet a girl online ;)

Interesting female gamer looking to only play with other female gamers. Did some male gamers say dirty and offensive things to you? Or did you constantly run into those guys that tell you not to play and go make them dinner? I hate it when people ruin the fun for everyone by doing stupid crap like this. >.>

A while back I was playing a game where it was me, two other women, and a teenage boy. I don't think he quite got how saying how wrong it was for him to keep saying he was "raped" by one enemy or another.

Don't ever go to Canada if that's what you're worried about. They set cars on fire when they lose a hockey game. And also when they win.

Understandable. There's a lot of aggression in hockey and lots of testosterone flying around. I'm not going to go to a hockey game, sit down in my seat, maybe drink a beer, then go home in an orderly fashion.

No. I wanna set things on fire, I wanna punch old ladies in the face, I wanna get out there on the ice and choke somebody out. My only question is why do Canadians riot at the drop of a hat and Americans don't? Must be something in the water.

No it's because you Americans prefer to shoot each other at the drop of a hat instead Image IPB.

I'm a girl. I play on PC though. I do like the multiplayer for Mass Effect, but that could just be because I was so disappointed with the ending to the story. ha.

I think it's a very good thing that both men and women are enjoying gaming, thus sharing the same interests - it brings people closer. ^_^

In the meantime, guys get ostracized/laughed at when they say the same (with "wife" ofc).

Goodluck ladies! I hope you find a cool gamer dude.
I play but my wife doesn't but she always treats me like a big baby and smiles at me when I talk about ME3 or Warhammer 40k. If only she'd like to play.... Until then I enjoy the company of great gamer girls and dudes I met in random games.
I played a silver game 2-3 days ago with a QI and a humie soldier, when the 3rd preson decided to quit on us. We went against reapers and eventually wiped out on wave 6. But I was a good game and the QI was actually a lady, who always sad to my thanks on reviving 'That's my job!'.  And afterwards she added me on origin.
It is a pretty good feeling, even I'm not the creepy nethussar (it's a hungarian phrase for big mouthed guys on the net).
So I think you can make a lots of friends in the game, if you are a decent player and polite.

That's you versus the whole gaming community. Have some examples: "not a dating site, GTFO", "get a life, dude"
