But it's undoable. You can't create content that would stay fresh for a long period of time. During a 5h stint with the MP, you'd play through most of the scenarios a few times and got bored with that.
MP is not about backstory. It's about competing and/or working with other human players in the game. You have the SP for the story. It's that simple.
If you're looking for the story, you should be looking for full co-op games, like L4D.
But this too gets boring, because you know exactly where and when the enemy will pop out
IMHO - there's no solution present right now and probably won't be around for a longer period of time...
I'm a much simpler being - I just love to rip apart Reapers, Phantoms and Pyros. I don't care for backstory.
Nope, it's doable. It's not about solid backstory or those ****, it's about letting your imagination run wild and think of skirmishes happening around the galaxy as Shepard fights the bigger battle.
I've heard of lots and lots of people going "MP is NOT about story! How do you explain doing the same firebase again and again?!?!?". And I am really tired of it. We aren't asking for Bioware to make backstories for MP maps or ask for solutions, we can do that ourselves WITH OUR IMAGINATION and we enjoy that a lot. Sure, many of you play because of competition and live players, but some of us play that too, while constructing stories to keep us engaged and let ourselves immerse in the universe. The same firebases? Doesn't bother me or break my immersion, still can get some backstory in it. "Oh, a lab that we need to protect!" , "Oh, we need to create a distraction by attacking this firebase so the main forces can kick some asses on the other side of the planet". Endless joy for me... truly.
tl:dr we don't have problems with MP having no story, we can build our backstories from SP. This is the greatest part of ME and the MP component, I can weave stories myself. We aren't looking for solutions. It's doable for us, maybe not many of you but it doesnt affect us.
