Female or Male, you will definitely have Vega in ME3 who is a Soldier (Grunt is also the other "pure" Soldier class). However Kaidan remains the only Sentinel squadmate in ME3 (as it seems that DLC squadie is most probably a Vanguard)
And your point of the post is? Are you trying to decide between Kaidan or Ashley for ME3?

Umm Jacob is a Vanguard, Miranda is the only other Sentinel besides Kaidan.

Jacob is a sentinel he has the barrier power which and mass effect 3 will be like tech armor ,and kaidan has that skill meaning there both sentinel and that makes them survive longer.

Jacob's power list are: Incendiary ammo, Pull and Barrier while Kaidan's in ME3 seems to be: Overload, Cryo Blast, Reave and Barrier.
A Sentinel is a Biotic & Tech class (just look at ME1) - Jacob has no Tech skill... Plus I thought he's a Soldier in the iOS game, makes more sense that he is a Vanguard now after being exposed to the eezo thing.
Miranda has both Warp and Overload (which pretty much means she's the only squadie with both Biotic & Tech in ME2).

Kinda makes sense. Most front line soldiers are men. Its always been that way and probably will be for the foreseeable future.sunnydxmen wrote...
if you really think about it ashley is the only female soldier squadmate. in the whole series there is no other female soldier squadmate who is a full blown soldier class charactar, even kaidan has jacob as competition for sentinel class ?

I see someone hasn't been keeping up with current events.

No, but all of the valid concerns I've heard with the new legislation are still valid. Had the discussion with my Australian Army friend, his response was exactly the same as one of the people against the bill. Which is not surprising. Truth be told I don't know what to think about it, but this forum isn't the place for this debate. Which is exactly what it will melt down into because everyone just realized it.

My point isn't to get into a discussion about real-world politics here. I understand that people are against the bill in present day. What I'm getting at, however, is that allowing women on the front line doesn't seem all that far off. At least in the United States. If the world continues to progress in a liberal manner (I mean that strictly in an individual liberties sense), then both sex and gender equality on the battlefield makes a lot of sense. From what I see, Mass Effect doesn't make a big deal about ethnic or "race" among humanity, so I imagine there's implications there that humanity has gotten over some of its self bigotry. They have other fish to fry. (Like aliens.) Ashley being the only female NPC soldier in the game doesn't mean she's the only female soldier. Her grandmother was, as was Samesh's wife.

But anyways, yeah, Ash is the only pure soldier female squadmate in the game (although we have several non-squadmate soldiers, if you don't mind me adding). That's true. But... I don't know, is it a problem? Or did you just find it to be an amusing fact? Or did you bring up the topic to have a squad-building discussion? Sorry, maybe I'm a bit slow right now, has been working for the last twelve hours, but I don't actually see the question here.

As someone going into the military I have and if you talking about what I think your talking then I should say I'm not talking about the recent opening of jobs for women. I simply meant more men than women go into the military. And that may be the case far into the future. Assuming we still have the kind of militaries we have today. The Free Jaffa wrote...

Hell I went to a delayed entry program meeting, DEP call, the other day and there was only 1 female. I'm not saying that's a good thing. I'd liked to see more women join and get the jobs they want.
So to recap I'm just saying that historically more men have gone for those jobs than females and that it is believable in the ME trilogy.

The more advanced combat becomes, the less gender has any kind of impact. If Ashley needed to weild a broadsword maybe this would be an issue, but she doesn't. She uses lightweight space weapons and wears velocity dampening shields. I see no problem with female soldiers in the future, or now really.atheelogos wrote...
