batarians are all over space so I'm sure they are not extinct yet but they will be if all the mercs are male and females stayed home side, sort of like the salarians.

I wonder how this news would be read by the "Reaper deniers" ... perhaps some would consider it a news blackout in preparation for a major Batarian offensive against the Systems Alliance? (Retaliation for the destruction of their colony?) Not that it matters, we all know what's really going on, but in-universe, I imagine it would have a lot of people concerned.
