Hello, all. With Mass Effect 3 close at hand, I've been playing through the series again. I've just completed ME 1 with a new character, and now I've come to ME 2. Problem is, when the game loads, the menus are riddled with errors. For instance, the "press start" prompt is replaced by $231353 (or something similar). Every menu item is like this; a series of numbers following a dollar sign.
At first, I figured I'd simply try to guess my way through, or translate each menu item through images on the internet. However, it seems the game barely functions. Once, I managed to load an old game save, only to find that many of the in-game menus were simply missing. Upon leaving the menu, certain prompts may stay on screen, leaving the ME style prompt window in the middle of the screen with a faded background. In these cases, I can move Shephard around, but nothing can remove the prompt.
To be sure, all of this is happening on the console version, and I don't know any way around it.
