While I get not wanting to play with too low levels, why drop out when classes don't match?
It is possible to change your own class.

Unfortunately, the quickslot unbing bug requires you to exit the game lobby unless you want all your powers to be unmapped and useless (well, not entirely useless, you just have to use the unpaused tactical menu and manually select every power you want to use there) when you change your class in the lobby.

Huh? Never heard or noticed that. Is that a PC or console bug?
And yes, I then also understand of not wanting to change your class

Me and Felo play on PC and it happens there every time you change class in the lobby. Sometimes you get lucky and have 1 ability on the quickslot though...

This issue is not that rampant. It's like you are implying that it happens all the time, yet I very often pick a different class in the lobby to suit the need of the group and so far I have encountered this bug only once.

Oh sorry for not saying "happens all the time to us and most of the guys we play with" <_<

Just played a reasonable round on silver with two characters of level 5 or so. Of course the players N7 levels were much higher, so I assumed they were leveling up their characters. I don't always look to kick players in a silver lobby, no matter their level. Although I do make exceptions for those at N7 level 1.

I feel that the current system does not do enough to help new players enter a lobby appropriate to their level. No doubt you could be having a good game one day as a level 5 character but typically your gear is commensurate to your N7 level, so you'd want a decent level going in to a silver/gold game.

edit : The hotkeys disappearing bug almost always happens to me when I change class in a lobby, which is why I prefer to quit a lobby then rejoin a game if I want to change.

cool downs are okay in theory of some games but when internet or EA is the reason it really isnt fair to punish the player.

If it is silver and there are 2 people who are level 5 or under I have every right to pack up and leave.

In fact I would have every right to pack up and leave even if there weren't 2 people who were level 5 or under because this is a free country.

Honestly it is just a game whose purpose is providing entertainment, not teaching morals.

It also gets frustrating when the last person won't hit ready after 5-10 minutes.. And one person starts the exit lobby train. Choo choo!

Yes, lets make good players have to carry a team of low levels who think silver/gold is the choice for them with no hopes of winning so they can waste their time. Seems fair right?

In the retail version we are allowed to have private lobbies, so there will not be any issues. People who don't want to deal with pubs, never will.
There are always options and ways.
I will always help lowbie(s) as long as chances are reasonable and they listen and try to play as a team. Competent, organized team with lowbie or two still can do silvers.

I don't mind helping lowbies out at all, but occasionally I do hop in and out of lobbies, mostly when I get into a full lobby and wait like 5 minutes without the game starting.

Also, some people lobby hop to find a lobby that has empty slots so they can invite their friends. I've done this as well.

Agreed. The current match making system is rather unreliable. I've had many times where no one joins my game or my friends game even after 10 minutes. I know I have a more than qualified internet connection and ping throughout NA.

Playing with competent people are fun; regardless of level and regardless of success.

I'll put it real simply:

It is not my responsibility to carry you on higher difficulties. If it's Bronze, I don't really care who you are or what you do. If I can't carry an anchor, that's my problem. On Silver and up, bring a character that can pull its weight or get out, with the standard for that being much lower on Silver than Gold.

As far as your cooldown suggestion: why should players be penalized if the game keeps randomly placing them in lobbies with players who have no business playing that difficulty? Strictly better would be a matchmaking system that gives players a list of games with enough information to enable making an educated decision about which one to choose.

I agree with this.

I've joined so many games only to find two people whose N7 level was 1 and 2 - on gold. Sorry. But I'm not joining a game with people who have JUST started playing. I shouldn't be penalized because other people are incompetent. It may sound harsh..but what OP proposing is harsh. Not being able to join a game for 15 minutes? Not happening.

How about they require people to have an N7 level of 80 or more if they want to join gold.

As for silver - eh. I can pretty much carry the team. I would still feel comfortable with higher level characters but ultimately it doesn't matter. But gold is a completely different story.

That's a little steep seeing as if one person only plays one character the only extra levels on other characters he'll be getting are exp cards.

Im sorry, but Im not going to stick around in a GOLD lobby with players who are barely level 5. It would be a waste of both our times otherwise.

Their loss for sticking with only one class.

I expect a good player to touch to different playstyles and not a single one.

It certainly helps to understand how other classes play. Example:

Infiltrator: "DUMN VANGUARD, Y U CHARGE MY ENEMIES!?"

Well, because that's how vanguards survive. Derp. But really, a high N7 level doesn't mean any unknown player is guaranteed not to be a moron. All it guarantees is that they play a lot. If losses meant NO experience gains, then it could mean something.

I only ever do random matches with the difficulty set to bronze. Me and my friends have completed silver quite a few times and got to round 10 of gold once or twice, but I don't think a random team would be very good for the higher difficulties.

But oh wow, the 'high and mighty' attitudes on the first few pages of this thread... I'll gladly chip in my level 20 character while in a team of low levels. Even if I only make around 3000 credits, that's 3000 credits towards my next Veteran Kit, and three other people 3000 credits closer to their (probably much-needed) veteran kits.

You can get some really good teams randomly on Gold.  My second lot, we stuck it out to Wave 10 the first time, then went right back in and got mission complete.

No doubt you can. But in all my playing Ilve only ever been with one random team that could finish Bronze, and there's usually enough of my friends online to form our own silver/gold team.

I don't really think it's the "high and mighty attitudes" as it is "I don't want to die in the first wave because someone is just learning the mechanics of dodging."

I don't mind if you're a good player. But.. if your N7 level is 1, I serously doubt you can handle wave 1 on gold w/o dying. I'm just wasting my time if I stick around. Same goes for them. I usually want to play the game because it's fun. But it's not fun if you're constantly reviving your team mates 30 seconds into the wave.

nothing wrong with lobby hopping. its not my job to babysit a bunch of random level 5's while they learn how to play in a gold match.

there needs to be a better matchmaking system, then people wouldn't need to fish for better games. until then, expect to see more and more players jumping from one lobby to the next.

Last night, I did a silver with my 20 vanguard, a level 3 engineer, a level 5 infiltrator, and a level 10 soldier.

We died during the 8th wave, but I enjoyed myself and they got XP and credits.

another thing that makes people lobby hop
trying to find a game with an open slot so you can invite a friend
wtb join as party

also if i join and some one is the same class as me i have to leave to change class becouse if i change in the lobby none of my powers get put on the hot bar

its more then just people being elitest there are some bugs you have to lobby hop to get around
