Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know if it will be possible to tank with a mage that use's Shapeshifter spec?

Probably.



Using the correct mage abilities/buffs on yourself beforehand then transforming should allow this. The swarm ability is capable of healing you later on, and apparently spellpower improves the power of the form (stats like hp, possibly?)

master shapeshifter gets their shapeshifts upgraded, i imagine the bear form would be very useful for tanking

Yeah, it probably works as long as you don't run into a Templars. They probably have some way to screw with it.  Flanking bonuses will be an issue, though, so you won't  be able to tank as many enemies as a sword/shield guy.

Its kinda crazy how many options there are in DA:O for tanking. I'm pretty sure Shale is a tank aswell.
