It's suprising ME isn't big in Japan because Bioware's new direction for the series has got Japan written all over it.

~ Lots of yuri/yaoi lovin'.

I can give you 3 reasons.

1. Mass Effect is not made in Japan.
2. They do not know about the things you just said.
3. Sci-fi is just not as big as it once was in Japan, now it's all fantasy, hell Dragon Age is more popular in Japan.

Different tastes. Some of us never grew up with any kind of Japanese influence, and that explains why we can't find much appeal to them.

Thank you, I hate when people think anime=manga.

And really Japanese stuff or not this is still one of the best things ever.

I, not having grown up with anime, consider that being able to hear what the character is thinking weird. It's quite common in western comics, but very rare in animation.

That doesn't make it bad, just different.


EDIT: Though yes, I did find the build-up satisfying.

Well it was a manga first so it's not that different from western stuff, the anime is just an adaption from the manga. But it is ture anime shows do let you hear what the characters are thinking adaption or not.

That and it's good to not talk at all when trying to get something from a guy who gets off on killing... he had to be like his shadow for days.

Btw I'm pretty much out of the manga/anime scene (was big on it around 7-8 years ago) but it is sad to see it is now associated with tentacles and schoolgirls, there are some really awesome pieces of media from japanese authors like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Evangelion, Ninja Scroll or Monster.
