Her arms kind of freak me out. I don't know whether it's because they're thin or not. They just don't look quite right in general.

I don't think they bend quite right.

Probably because the animation wasn't designed for underwear.

Eh, the same thing happened on the Kasumi mission with the armless dress, the problem is that femshep doesn't actually have elbows

Haha, can do a hell of a wave ;)

ziggeh we will have to agree to disagree because you think it's complexity while i think it's laziness. let's end it there.

This isn't a difference of equally valid opinions; It's simply more complex than you are attempting to characterise it.

Wulfram has it. We women like to feel sexy but in different ways. We don't go around wearing lingerie type under clothing day in and day out. Not comfortable and doesn't offer much support were needed. Regular panties and bra's do that much better. Lingerie is meant to entice and then be taken off, not meant to be worn everyday.

Clothing types also differ. We don't go around in slinky black dresses everyday. Most of us wear combinations of clothing. blouses and slacks, blouses and skirts, t-shirts and jeans, tank tops and jeans, wrap arounds and different combinations of pants also jackets. our fashion sense is different from men.

just some food for thought.

ziggeh no it's not. I believe it's laziness even though I saw your point I still believe it's laziness. I agree there are levels of complexity to game development. However I disagree that Bioware can't create separate animations in a game especially since both ME2 and ME3 had 2 year development cycles. They had more than enough time to implement different rigging/skeletal structures for both Sheploo and FemShep but didn't.

So as I said end it here and agree to disagree.

I just don't understand why they changed the model from the previous games. Sheploo looks like he could seriously handle himself with all those muscles and Femshep looks like a strong wind would knock her off a balcony.

In fairness, the underwear we're seeing here will probably be only seen in romance scenes.

I was looking forward to the N7 hoodie, but unfortunately with the new body model femshep looks like a little boy when she wears it.

Yeah, I didn't plan on running around in my undies anyway but the question remains: why was her model changed so drastically? I don't even see how this is titilation either..because it's not like she's running around in a chain bikini with gravity defying breasts but they still chose for her body type to be vastly inadequate when compared to Sheploo's.

The BIG difference here though is that Bioware CREATED this woman. Purposely making her look a certain way and this is where the problem lies. They had the power to create this model and did so willingly in an unrealistic and unhealthy fashion. I think that's more what Sashimi_taco is trying to get at here.

So having skinny arms and being thin is now unhealthy? Where is the line drawn, here? What exactly is the standard that we should apply to women in video games, then?

O wait, what the hell are we doing applying any standard in the first place, out of curiosity?

They also didn't make her face match the new artwork version either. Again Bioware dropped the ball in many area's concerning FemShep

Actually if they wanted to know what a proper fem Shep body looks like they only had to go over to their colleagues ...

Something like this would have been much more appropriate

In case it doesn't show, it's a gif of cage-fighter Gina Carano getting ready for a pre-fight weigh-in

I know.  Why do heroines never have athletic bodies?
It's super annoying.  (And there's a wide range of athletic bodies, yes, but some bodies just clearly aren't.)

The butt window - what's its purpose? Maybe easier access for Kaidan and Vega?

To make things worse, they reinforce the notion that this was their goal when you look at the differences in the options for their "casual" wear. Has a member of the dev team responded as to why they tried to make femshep look so deliberately " sexy?"

Therein lies the problem. It is a male-dominated industry with a heavily biased userbase. There is very little vision of the contrary to drooling over females. Until developers are willing to step up and go against the grain with non-sexualized female characters, we will not see a non-Victoria's Secret female character.

People must just understand that there are many diffrent kinds of sexy. And that sexiness does not need to be emphasized all the time. So its not so much about developers taking a stand against sexualized characters as it is about nuancing them and describing a full person instead of a stereotype.

I get it if it's some guy on his computer modding Oblivion to have his character run around in a lacey thong, there's nothing to stop that. But when the team who designed this came time to design femsheps casual clothes, why did the pick this
as something anyone would wear as an everyday choice? Wouldn't it more sensible to have something more like this
you know, something more normal for everyday use? If it was just the underwear, then I would agree that they're just guys designing it and it was bound to happen. The fact that it's the underwear, the body model and the casual wear, it's clearly deliberate.

Well if by trend you mean that femShep and maleShep both get 'generic [gender] body' then yes.

razyx still it's a male walk which is horrible for femshep which is a woman and not a man. if she walked like a cave woman it wouldn't be so bad. at least it'd be a female walk.

android i like that second image of the woman in a red top and black jacket with the grey pants, i believe are cargo pants but can't truly tell.

Did you know a lot of women with eating disorders wear large, lose clothes in hopes of hiding how small they are? Unfortunately this actually makes them look smaller. How oddly revealing.
