Sorry, that's simply not true. While some people do have more subcutaneous fat naturally than others with proper diet and a good mix of cardio and weight training anyone can get quite ripped. Now that doesn't mean huge mass but I don't think anyone is asking for that anyway. Just a more proportional athletic build.

Here's a couple more from 3.
Of course. But we are talking about carrying equipment of several pounds on a daily basis for years. Have you seen anyone who carried equipment of several pounds on a daily basis? It gives a certain figure.chengthao wrote...
why do ppl think you need to be butch to be a female in the military? do these ppl even serve in the military? why complain when they have no idea about women in the military? there are plenty of "skinny" women in the military, there are plenty of "skinny" guys in the military as well . . . its not as if every single person in the military is some buffed-up, steroid using GOW character

Sorry, but I disagree. There are always people that do not fit the standard model. People that don't look as strong as they are or people whose muscles don't show very well in their skin. Just like there are people who can eat whatever they want, whenever they want, and don't gain a single pound(on the inside, they might look like ****, but outside, fit as ever).
Judging people's strength or athletic ability by the outside is an exercise in futility. IMO.

Also if someone like that suddenly stops carrying that several pounds of equipment for a half year, it also changes their figure.
It's not about woman or man, it's about human physiology.
Yet again, it's really not a big deal. And I'm glad we don't have the female version of the Goverminator as a FemShep. But I also understand where is this complaint coming from.
Even if it's taken too seriously. Way too seriously.

You know, Babycakes, I provided THE VERY SAME LINK as a complaint AGAINST FemShep's body. The PROBLEM with FemShep is that she DOESN'T look like an actual athletic woman, but a STEREOTYPE of what is "hot."Stanley Woo wrote...
People are a diverse collection of different genetics and body types. check out this pictorial (warning: athletes in underwear) featuring the body types of many different athletes. You will see that even among those in the same field of athletics, there is a variety of body shapes and sizes.
Sure, every person has their own stereotypes of what a soldier "should" look like, based on historical depictions of soldiers in media, their own experiences, and what have you. But as the linked pictorial shows, people do come in all shapes and sizes, and perhaps we as a media culture should start accepting that different body shapes can still represent strength.

Absolutely. I was posting those shots to both address how NG makes realistic women that aren't objectified and have proportions that are far more realistic than, well, just about any other game.

Unless FemShep is 6'4" she doesn't weigh 140 pounds going off that picture in her undies. She looks more like 110-115 since she has no muscle mass to speak of.
And again, there are women built like that in the military. But those women don't do physical duties and certainly could never do what FemShep does.

Agreed, they have also done the same with their male characters. I still love how Nathan is a goofball who got into a dangerous line of work and a very dark past, but his attitude is exactly what his personality and his appearance have been all along, a nice enough guy who tries to make the best of a bad situation.
