I agree with you on heels for Miranda, Phantoms and Nemesi. Pure rediculous for combat roles, but you are almost saying that Shepard can not celebrate her own body on her off time.
On "not everybody is ripped/FemShep's body is valid": Yeah, I get it, but NOODLE ARMS. COME ON. THROW IN A BICEP.
On "so the dress shouldn't exist?": No. It shouldn't. It's ugly and tacky enough that I feel compelled to remove the choice from everyone else.
On "celebration of her body": Allow me to explain this myth with some well-known funnies.
Female empowerment looks a HELL of a lot different from sexual pandering. The whole "sexually liberated female" trope has been hijacked as a male fantasy in the entertainment industry. Go look up why everyone was so mad about the Catwoman/Teen Titans reboots.
Yeah, FemShep's not that bad, but you need to learn to spot the difference between sending a strong and empowering message to women and an attempt to make your dick hard.
If there were women on the art/character design team, I'd cut Bioware some slack. But there aren't.
There are other body types that show power outside of soloflex man. For instance, giant bear of a man, like Sig Curtis from FMA Brotherhood. Soloflex man is sexualizing because its a female fantasy, not because its a male one.
Do I want to be cut? Sure, but people would prefer a larger build and height on the male fantasy side of things, at least for me anyway.
Noodle arms I agree with 100%, rigging and animations shouldn't be shared between the Sheps, but that is the fault of corporate efficiency not art design.
You speak of female empowerment, I speak of celebrating the female form, two different things my dear. Celebration of a woman with a tight fitting dress and self confidence to match it are independent of body type. Sure, being waaaaay overweight wouldn't look terribly attractive, but being plus size does not mean its time to throw on cargo pants and a flanel shirt because you aren't allowed to like your body ever again.
