Thats not true, some of the armors are very well designed and offer good protection and movement, they're designed like knight armor. If you can design a better one or if you have any ideas for improvements go ahead. The problem is we currently do not have any real full ballistic body armors besides very cumbersome plate carriers and bomb squad suits.

Centurians/bigshots had ROID armors! Plus, I just think that some
people might have bigger chests, and having hard armor press against
them might be bad. I'm not 100% defending it, but it would just make
women with bigger breasts impossible to wear.

But maybe they could resolve it in some other way... :)

Apart from the fact that this is nowhere near the ridiculousness of boob armor, you can bet Jupiter's **** that those jolly Romans had some sort of padding under that chest plate, they would not be wearing that stuff skintight.

Regarding the people with bigger breasts, they would have to try to compensate with extra padding. But I can guarantee that some discomfort is preferable to the kind of injuries boob armor could produce.

TS2Aggie wrote...

Yeah, wouldn't boob armor actually be more likely to direct a melee weapon directly into her chest (right between the breasts) instead of deflecting it away from her?

Indeed, that is one of the potential dangers.

The Woldan wrote...
Good post.

We actually have better
non-boob functional armor in the game, the Cerberus Assault Armor for
example does not have boob shaped structural weaknesses on the chest
piece.[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]
Cerberus scientists knew what they were doing when designing that armor.

Thank you.

I am in fact quite thankful that FemShep gets a pretty decent selection of sensible armor in the game, even if her iconic look includes boob armor.

I can take the "spaghetti arms", I just pray that the lop-sided shoulders Femshep had (I don't remember if Male Shepard had them, too) in ME 2 are gone.  I didn't notice in the Demo, as I have a bloom problem, and can't see finer details on the fringe of the body (like ears, hair).

@AdmiralCheez:  Nice pic.

Hey, FemShep has PLENTY of room for padding in her armor! Seen how small her boobies are? Ha-ah! :P

Let's see....HOW REALITY 'WORKS'.....

Reality is.........Well, there is no such thing as 'Reapers' heading for Earth in 2012 (outside of a video game)....

Reality is......Video game makers create games that do not always focus on 'reality'....Perhaps you'd be more interested in playing something more 'reality based' along the lines of fighting rising gas prices, or fighting global unemployment rates???

Seriously...these 'arguments' over how video games are not more 'real', is ludacris.....Even with how characters appear within them.  It's a damn game...nothing more!!!

Tbh we hear this alot. But there is a reason why for example humans in ME have for example 2 arms and 2 legs. Just like in real life. Because the fact that it is only a game doesn't mean that any level of ridicule is accepted. No it's not supposed to be super realistic. But people will always pick on things that break their immersion. That means that actually keep remembering them that it is 'only a game'. Because if you watch or read a story you want to pretend for a while that it is a real world.

I get that.....

However, their moment of 'immersion' should begin at the time they are introduced to the character.  From that point on is how that character was created....Was he/she fighting in armor?  Was he/she 'good looking'?  Etc....

Once the 'immersion' goes into "real time", then that person is merely attempting to create or skew, the way that particular story was written or created, to suit their own tastes and desires.....and from there it is no longer considered part of the original 'lure'.

Please explain to me why balisitc armor needs shoulder pads. Has anyone ever seen a flack jacket wtih giant shoulder pads? The concept of balistic body protection doesn't fundamentaly change with the introduction of faster projectiles.

You don't want your shoulders protected from gunfire?

And..

They come with shoulder pads.

Whose shep is wandering around in that dress theyre putting in anyways? Save the Galaxy then off to a cocktail party? Alliance uniform on the ship, armor on the ground.

Still, her look is pretty bad. I'd be way more tempted to use it if femshep actually looked tough, not like my granny. Sheploo is like a bodybuilder, and femshep hasnt eatten in days. She doesnt need to be a female beefcake, but abit of muscle wouldtnt hurt, and it would definately make more sense rp wise.

There are lots of body armors with ballistic shoulder pads, despite not being a center mass hit getting the shoulder shredded where several major blood vessels run can get you killed in a minute. Not to mention when a rifle or a high powered pistol round hits the shoulder bone your arm is pretty much gone.

The SWAT uses armor with shoulder pads, also most modern ballistic armors have neck, kidney and groin protectors.  The Swat also uses thigh pads and shin armor.

Actually, that armor style wasn't used in battle. They were merely for looking good; you often had one suit for battle and the other would be for stuff like a victory march. It is basically the armor equivilant of formal wear; something you wouldn't wear but in special occassions. Simple soldiers would wear that, minus the ornate symbols (like the gryphons) while a general would wear the one in that picture.

What the Romans fought in was much simpler:

Humm,

You know you might actually wanna take a look at some combat photo's from say the last 50 years or so before you really set yourself on what a soldier should look like. Also you know look at more than one side.

They really do come in all shapes and sizes no joke. Hell a 80 lb pound female Viet sniper gave Hath****( best U. S. sniper up to and off that era) a run for his money in kills.

When they pull out the same stuff out as Shepard does... well heck even similar, I'll agree. All we are asking that she'd show bit fitness.

All I'm really saying, other arguments aside, is that FemShep in that picture does not appear to have a lot of muscle in her arms. She should have better muscle definition and more substance to her arms; she doesn't need to be a weightlifter, it's just that right now her arms appear too thin.

Yes and no, yes it looks like there's no source of power, no it doesn't mean there is no power.

I would direct your attention to Bruce Lee's one inch punch (go youtube it if you've never seen it before), now Bruce Lee isn't exactly what I'd call a Vega, in fact he could be half Vega's size. But the only other man in this world who could even be in the same league as Bruce Lee, is
Arnold Schwarzenegger.
