Those women are all varied. None of them look like She-Hulk or a cage fighter or a body builder. They look like normal women. Some are very skinny. Some are heavy. Some are “average”. None of them seem to fit a “standard”. Granted, none of these women are fighting huge aliens like the SB or head butting Krogans.

Those are rear echelon soldiers, they do not fight, they're medical personnel etc. They didn't even had to pass the mens physical tests, (knee supported push-ups etc), they don't operate heavy weaponry, don't have to drag around injured squad mates, don't have to be able to engage enemies in hand to hand combat.
Those are not real soldiers, not by a long shot.

I say we take femshep's head and attach it to maleShep's body. Maybe then she can look like she could handle some sh!t when it got real and people would be happy.Image IPB

Don't be stupid.

Nobody asks bodybuilder (well maybe someone does), but her arms are like REALLY thin.

But considering that she carries 6 guns with her and punches giants against walls, she could use some visible muscle.

Okay, I get that. However, she did all these things in Mass Effect 2 and I don't really see much of a difference in these arms.

Where the heck did you find a picture of femshep in her underwear? Is this game going to be like Dragon Age: Origins, where you don't have to wear any armor? (I doubt it.)

Actually ME1/2 didn't do any better. They simply don't have different body types for different ... people. A dancer in Afterlife will have the same body as a Marine or a scientist or a merchant.

All of them are medical personnel? I didn't know that.

Oh ffs, it was a joke. Maybe the little emote should have clued you in.

Yeah, but then that goes with saying she hasn't really changed that much. They haven't altered her body in abnormal or extreme ways. If people could believe she was punching a huge alien or headbutting a Krogan then, why not now? (granted, I was one of the ones laughing at my femShep doing such things. It looked silly) Yet, I remember a lot of people defending her. All of them bringing her enhancements into play.

He's got a point - last I heard only Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Israel have opened up front-line, combat roles to women... they presumably have to meet the same physical requirements as the men to get into those roles though, so I wouldn't be surprised if the number of women in those positions is still low.

Sad thing is front lines opened to women here in Australia most likely because the numbers of people enlisting is lower then the army would like, not because of any equal opportunity. They just needs more numbers.

Ah.
The Bogota soldiers are being trained for Combat Officers. The women training for police cadets in Baghdad and such will surely learn some combat training, won't they? I will admit that my expertise is lacking in military occupation, but I would assume that all cadets must learn to “fight” in some capacity, don't they?
As I said, I don't know much about that.

The thing with Femshep for me is her shoulders don't seem to be as wide as her hips, and her thigh thickness is huge compared to her biceps.

I don't think I've ever actually seen anyone IRL where the shoulders weren't the widest part of the body, even all these altheletes who have been posted have thick torsos and shoulders matching hips, with much more even thigh thickness to bicep.

This, along with no muscle definition makes her look odd, makes her upper body look out of place.

I brought this up in the other thread. I think hts actually the same model used in both games (though looks like textures are different). Geometry wise there seems to be little difference. At least as far as I can tell. Really need to get poses from exactly the same positions to compare.

Of course looking at that, I much prefer skintone of the ME2 femshep to ME3 default femshep

Yeah, I stated before that the paleness might be a factor. The new femshep is milk white. I am pale myself and it does give the appearance of less toning. Granted, I have no muscle mass irl, but that is for another discussion.

Having a thick lower body and skinny upperbody just makes her look out of shape.

Well I wasn't ever defending femShep body in any of the games. I always thought she looks 'too normal'. Not like a soldier. Just most of the time you don't notice. In ME1 I think anyway she always is covered with clothes or armor. In ME2 however some outfits were a bit more revealing and as such ... a bit of a let down. And since femShep's going to run around in underwear in ME3 ... jk ... well but since we discuss these pictures posted in this thread I am going to agree with the people who say a bit broader shoulders and the one or other muscle texture wouldn't have killed her.

Why don't you deal with it? It's just a forum discussion.

Because 'deal with it' is easier said than done, obviously.

Ah the "it's just a video game" trope. I find that to be quite tiresome, actually.

I'm pissed maleshep only has a 4 pack. It just doesn't look realistic tbh.

How isn't it realistic? I've got a 4-pack because the lower abs are a bit more difficult to work and I don't care too much to get them. Maybe male-shep is the same way Image IPB

 You know...in shape :

Image IPB

This woman looks like she can make you wear that weight as a choker at any time.

I'm in shape and have played sports for years. While I'm not this cut I am around the same size. If I were concerned more with being fair, I could see my body type in the FemShep role, and nobody I think would make that big a deal of it, even with some grappling from the character. But for the things FemShep actually does, even I would expect something more like this.

There is simply no way that you can partake in any heavy physical activity for long enough to elevate to an "expert" level and not show the signs of it. Even just riding a bicycle or turning a wrench for 20 years. Repetitive exertion is simply going to do that. Even if you don't get way bigger like a bodybuilder.
