The funny thing is, it was so foreseeable that this is what femshep's body would look like after you saw her in the Kasumi dlc outfit. We knew she didn't have muscle or fat.
That's just because they have exactly one model for all the female characters. That mission was awesome because both FemShep and ManShep looked hilariously out-of-place in the space-tux or space-dress, what with the horrific facial scarring and all.

Are you aware of the galactic sh*ttons of flutter kicks, sit-ups, and other ab exercises that higher SpecOps soldiers do? Thousands. A day. You wouldn't notice it, because most SEALs/SAS/Force Recon soldiers have a bit of a belly (extra fat helps when being stuck in a jungle for 3 days with no food), but in a skinny guy/gal like Shepard, you'd notice the insane muscle definition. Female Shepard not so much, because women don't have the same amount of muscle and it is harder for them to get that same amount of muscle, but still, they'd be in shape.aLucidMind wrote...
How isn't it realistic? I've got a 4-pack because the lower abs are a bit more difficult to work and I don't care too much to get them. Maybe male-shep is the same wayPlumPaul82393 wrote...
I'm pissed maleshep only has a 4 pack. It just doesn't look realistic tbh.

All of this.
Besides her arms are like 12'' maybe 12.5''. That's not big at all. Also, fitness photo shoots are like weighins. She eats nothing until they turn on the cameras, have a small amount of sugar to temporarily increase vascularity and sweat out any retained water before the cameras go on. A lot of people a couple of pages back were saying Hope Solo was hot, but the only difference between her and this woman is vascularity.
Yes exactly. I mean there are scenes in that movie Stealth in which Jessica Biel is filmed from a certain angle, like when she's checking her pager while seated at a table in one scene, where her arms look just about like this sans the oil. Muscles simply look bigger flexed, and she is flexing her right arm while actively holding a weight in her left hand. At an angle meant to bring out her definition.
But if you are the type of woman who can pass BUDS, you most certainly will look like this by the time you are ready to do so. And my understanding of FemShep is that she's on such a level of eliteness. As much as it sucks to admit, but the average woman could not have carried Shepard's gear while wearing Shepard's armor long enough to have made it from the gurney she starts ME2 on even to the point where she meets up with Jacob. It's simply not going to happen.
A man who could carry as much weight as this highly fit woman I posted could literally look like a slob, or be a stick figure. It's about mass. It's why I can be an athlete all my life and still can't grab 6-8 separate grocery bags in one hand and carry them in like my lazy as heck skinny brother can. It only takes an average man with an average build to bench up 200 pounds but average built women could forget about that.

Ugh, god I hate that outfit.... besides being a reskin of Diana Allers dress (quite possibly the most inappropriate clothing I've ever seen a war corespondant reporter wear...), there is nothing casual about those clothes whatsoever. FemShep looks more like she on her way for a hot date or a Hollywood premiere than just casually hanging around on the Normandy. <_< (on the plus side, at least the N7 Hoodie looks good on her, in my opinion)chiliztri wrote...
Not sure if these will really do anything, but here are some varying screenshots of the dress. I really do not like the slit in the back.
Why couldn't they give us some normal casual wear for FemShep, like a top and jeans along with the same leather jacket that MaleShep got (like this mock-up I made in Photoshop earlier):

Actually off season it'd probably be ok because she'd have a bit more body fat. I really don't like the extreme definition on women. That's why I said looks like a guy body, not because of the shape, but ... females usually have more body fat than males by nature.
Again though a lot of that is lighting, angles and oil. I would be extremely surprised to find out that girl was anything over 120-130 pounds and about 5'6-5'8. And in a normal position not picked to accentuate her definition, she would look quite sexy and shapely.
And remember that this is the pinnacle of fitness. Let's say the top rung of evolution for a combat trained woman. One can always work downwards from here based on Shepard's backstory. I would fully accept a Spacer or some such Shepard falling somewhat short of this standard, while still being far closer to it than to "average". A from-birth super soldier type training since childhood would be here. Or beyond here given the requisite larger frame/bone structure.

I'm glad you brought up Jessica Biel. Biel looked the part in Blade Trinity, where she was playing a woman who was killing vampires for about 80% of the movie.

It's simple logic. If someone is going to perform impressive physical feats, they need a body that can perform that. Just because she's a woman doesn't mean they had to turn her into a body builder, but the build they gave Jane does not fit.

So again, the other pic was largely angles and exertion, but there is little doubt even in this picture that she is a physical specimen. Which FemShep would absolutely have to be. But it is unfair to make beauty inversely proportional to strength. Pauline has no problems in sexywear either.

I don't know who this "everybody" is but they need thier eyes checked. She looks good in this one and in the last one. She should have been a reference they used to design jane, not this oddly built sedentary thing they decided on.

Having served in the norwegian army as a rifleman in a mech infantry platoon, I had the pleasure of serving in the same squad as a female MG gunner. This is a girl that carried a 40 KG backpack, a 10 kg MG3 and 6 kg of 7.62x51 ammo up the longest and steepest f***ing mountain hill in any norwegian military base complex (1 hour constant march continous 35 degree slope) in -40 degrees celcius. She could handle the recoil when firing her mg standing up And I swear she was about as skinny as shep is depicted here. She was also COMPETENT at her job as an infantryman, something our sergeant said he'd never seen in a female soldier.
Because military service does not neccesarily help you build muscles unless you got a lot of spare fat, spec ops actually LOOSE 15 kg of muscle mass during their training regimen due to very little nutrition and overtraining. Many of the big muscly guys actually noticed that as well while i was in.
What it does do is giving you mental and physical stamina, and lots of it, allowing to push more out of what you already have. We call it being indian strong as opposed to bodybuilder strong with tendons and muscles like steel wire.

This so freaking this. Sure muscle is good and needed but you do not need to be completely muscle. In a army you mostly need stamina and simply strong enough to carry a **** load of gear. That is usually put in body fat. Shepard has that lean build but it isn't really extremely muscular. While it could be better its not something that is incredibly unrealistic.
Being a body builder is good for strength but I doubt body builders have a lot of stamina. A bunch of muscle isn't really needed in the military more than stamina.

Eh I know you don't mean this seriously but both shepards would break their hand against a freaking Yahg of they were regular humans.
Fortunately for them they aren't normal at all.

well actually the best hand to hand guy in our platoon was this little skinny wiry dude barely 1.70 m. He would jump the big guys (including me 1.90m and 90 kg) and overwhelm them with sheer energy. Guy never tired, and just kept coming with a strenght you simply wouldn't guess was there. We dubbed him the monkey man.

Reminds me of how Gurkha's are badasses but are usually pretty damn short lol.
