Don't worry BioWare, the straight male approves of FemShep's hips and current thickness of her arms.
And who cares about that if those who will actually play the character disapprove? It's just pathetic - she's a soldier and looks like she never carried anything heavier than a purse.
I don't know what makes you think i only play the Male Shepard, but i actually play with FemShep as well. So let me ask you "Who cares that you dissapprove?".

Really, no one has to be a tank to be strong. I have no idea about the science about it but as a boxer who fights both heavy weights and bantam weights I can tell you that I know some bantam weights who can punch harder than the heavy weights. It's mostly due to their (on in this case his) accuracy in punching. But I'm telling you, being strong doesn't mean you have to be a body building or ripped, hell most martial artists aren't ripped or even toned but they can still take down most tanks any day.
That's mostly to do with speed and agility, accuracy of hits and overall ability to make hits count.
It takes pure strength to handle 60 pounds of equipment and also hold a 15 pound Revenent/Widow/Claymore for long periods while also firing it accurately.
And I understand, that you can't judge a book by it's cover, etc, but, all of this could have been avoided if they simply would have made femshep's model look more traditionally muscular.
Also, to add to the thread, here's another great super Gina Carano shot
I'm speaking out of experience, it's not some random crap I've made up. But the point I'd like to make is that you don't have to look like this:

In order to be strong. Sure the body builder can lift 'x' and 'y' lbs but I bet that an experienced boxer or martial artist, hell even a marine could do more physical excersise than most body builders.
The picture above isn't what I'd call ripped, but I bet she is a very strong woman.
I've taken punches from men who are 90kg and men who are 55kg. And though the power lies with the heavy weight, I can honestly say that the bantam isn't some scrawny fast ****er. Theres a difference between fast, and fast with alot of power. Hell Mike Tyson is an example of that. But I'd rather take on a raging bull than Mike any day xD
It's like the DA2 debate with Fenris and how he could never pick up a sword let alone swing it, just because he doesn't have arms like Arnold... it's all bull.

How typical. For "straight male", realistically looking fit women are gorillas, so you want totally unauthentic anorexic model to pretend to be a soldier. And propably wish she had high heels and give her full makeup for battlefield, huh?PXXL wrote...

Sure, if you're into anorexia and unauthenticity. Nevertheless, I though that at least femShep should appeal to female players, not just be another teen male fantasy object like Miranda and now Ashley.

Of course. Just company fails because it shows yet again they don't care about realistic presentation of female characters, ergo, won't get more potential customers, only the same male teens who would buy it anyway.PXXL wrote...

I'm being quite serious here, so don't try to discredit my point by feeding lies.
But regardless of what you may think, that is exactly what a fit woman looks like.
The "many examples" aren't good examples because they are taken from women doing sport. If you want to compare anything, find pictures of real women in the military, and compare them to FemShep. Then, and first then, can we talk.

"Because I say so".
Please. I even have friends in military. None of them looks so weak and anorexic. Besides, Shepard is not just ANY soldier. And BTW, you didn't keep attention to ME codex. Alliance soldiers get gene therapy that IIRC improves their muscle mass among the others. Judging from an ingame example of universally overgrown men (even Joker!) and all those women, they give that only to the former. The "many examples" aren't good examples because they are taken from women doing sport. The arm thing, i'm of two minds about. On one hand, i wouldn't say they're too thin as far as body proportions go -- shape/geometry-wise they're actually probably better in that regard than it's normal for computer game models and far from 'twigs'. On the other hand though, i can see why people would want the shape to be made thicker, given Shepard's background et all. And the normal map they've used for her doesn't help.Arppis wrote...
I still the think the arms are pretty poorly designed.
edit: the problem imo isn't as much female Shepard model, but the overly muscular male models -- when she's routinely placed next to multiple such characters, she is bound to appear too frail, relatively.
I don't know, I saw her body first alone without the male's around. And I still thought her arms are bit thin... or there is something OFF about them.

As someone who works out myself,
having muscles wouldn't be the most important thing for FemShep. Since
primarily she just uses guns, she would only need basic muscles, and
would instead need to focus on endurance for sprinting reasons. That,
however, doesn't require you to be very muscular at all. In fact,
muscles can actually be a detriment, since they will weigh your body
down. Building endurance and building strength are two ENTIRELY
different processes.
You might be right and the suits have exoskeletons too. But then thing is that this game actualy has weight-capacity with level ups and stuff like that. *shrug*
It's not the end of the world, but it's interesting to talk about this.

i'm sorry, but no sane person would say that's "exactly what a fit woman looks like". Mind you, it's not the arms people are fixating on that's the problem here, but... just ugh, pretty much everything else.
