It makes sense that Gold would earn the most money, and in fact it does on a per match basis. But gold also takes longer to complete and is much easier to wipe before accomplishing the wave 10 objective.

Bronze - Averagme match time 16 minutes, 3.75 matches per hour
16k credits per match
Pre wave 11 Failure rate, let's say 5% (almost never due to wiping, but I get disconnected more often than I would like)
Approximately 57k credits per hour

Silver - Average match time 26 minutes, 2.22 matches per hour
37k credits per match
Pre wave 11 failure rate ~20%
Approximately 66k credits per hour

Gold - Average match time 42 minutes, 1.43 matches per hour
58k credits per match
Pre wave 11 failure rate ~40% (It's actually higher for me but I gave it the benefit of the doubt)
Approximately 50k credits per hour

This is based on personal experience. But even if the failure rate was zero, Gold and Silver would earn approximately the same amount of money per hour, and I don't believe anyone has 100% success rate on gold.

I've found that generally bronze takes closer to 20m even though with a couple high levels we just cruise around looking for dudes to kill.

I've also found that silver's failure rate is closer to 40%. If you're teamed up with baddies it's pretty hard to solo for most classes (Re: Not infiltrators...) and if you're soloing it while your teammates are dead you're not even going to approach 26m. Plus bugs and disconnects are very frequent. I think the failure rate is much lower in off-peak times.

Overall I believe that given a few hours the best way to earn credits is bronze, which kind of sucks because Silver is much more fun. If I put together a pre-made we'd definitely do silver. A lot of times the best way to pub it is to join bronze games and if they're full of good players switch to silver

Yeah this is personal experience, and from being grouped with good players.

If I've got a good group then we might fail silver 1 out of 5 times but it's much more often with groups with low level players or people who don't play their class effectively.

Also the formatting went crazy on the first post, fixed now.

I definitely think silver is the fastest way to grind credits. If your team is good, you can get through in 20 minutes average. On a team that's not so hot, I'll go with asari adept or salarian infiltrator which nearly guarantees full extraction. It takes a little longer, but nowhere near as long as a gold match. Even a good team will make a mistake now and then on gold. On the other hand, silver is just as easy as bronze when teammates are competent.

With a good team and weapons, you can go through bronze in around 10 minutes, and gold in 30. Note that gold also provides a severely greater amount of experience, almost three times silver, in fact (seeing as you're fighting more, higher ranking enemies and recieving more medals in the process, makes sense) which makes gold a viable option to play for non-casual/"play for the hell of it" gaming. Still wouldn't advise gold though, as if you're unlucky, you'll fail before the big money. It's not about how much you get before wave 9, it's that hefty sum at the end that you want, so in general, you want as little risk as possible. Follow the ALARA principle, both in difficulty setting and in gameplay, and you should rack up credits respectably fast.

Definitely Silver from personal experience.

First it takes much less time to get a decent group for a Silver run than Gold and it's far easier to complete even with an average group... a decent group could still easily wipe in the last waves of a Gold run. Secondly It doesn't take much more time to complete than a Bronze but the reward is definitely higher.

Farm gold. If you have mics and/or live in the same house(as me any my team do) you'll be fine.

1) start the gold run
2) make it through the wave 6 fast (not so difficult)
3) get yourself killed immediately on wave 7 (the easiest part)

about 20k in 15 minutes, 80k/h average.
Rince, repeat.

One or two days ago I would have agreed with you on silver being the fastest. Right now, I'm not so sure. If 3 of us play some fast classes (krogan soldier or vanguards) we do a bronze run in 13 mins (11 or so was the best ever but objectives were all disarm/kill and close to each other). Now and then we do wipe on silver (mainly because we hurry and usually a turret mows us down), so I would say in the long run bronze would be the fastest.

This thread is precisely why I think modding out the unlock system is completely justified.
The motivation to play should be for fun not for virtual credits.

I play gold, as I find it more challenging & more fun.

.... and yes, you heard me right - I still play the game despite having everything unlocked.

IMO the unlock system is completely unnecessary; infact I'd go so far as to say it's detrimental to the overall game experience because it interferes with the fun process of character build planning/tweaking. (as is the lack of a free respec. function)

farming for credits.. Id pick a strong team and aim for sub25min on gold. This is because there are fixed times in the game which cant be avoided, so playing lower difficulties will hit the time limit no matter what. Hack quest is fixed time. wave 11 is fixed time. pause during waves is fixed. Say there are 11 waves, makes 10 pauses x ~30sec=unavoidable 5min etc etc. Respawn time cant be avoided. No matter how fast you kill, cant kill faster than they come out of their lair or something. If you play 25min/gold that would be 140k cred/h

Silver is the most efficient if you're doing quick matches on your own, just make sure not to join teams with anyone under level 10 and you should have a 80%+ sucess rate.

Remember you only need to finish the wave 10 objective to get the full 35-37k credits.

If you've got 3 friends that know how to play go double Asari adept and clear gold in under 30 mins.

Interesting, on PC my bronze and silver times tend to be similar, around 20 minutes.  Sometimes we'll be a pro PUG and have 16 minute silver.

The premise is accurate - Gold is unreliable, Bronze awards nothing, Silver is best for rewards

In general, with the average teams you search and find, I think beating bronze over and over again nets you more XP and credits than playing silver witht he same teams who occasionally lose when the level gets upped.

I disagree with your average times tbh. A good team does silver in 20-22 mins, and Gold in 30 mins. So that actually roughly evens out.

Today I was pretty impressed to find that my (random)group was finishing Silver in 18 minutes. We only managed about 3 games before everything went pear shaped though. And Bronze can be done in 16 minutes easy. I won't do the math because it's my bed time, but I'm just sharing some times I've been achieving personally. Never tried gold though, I'm no sadist.

The hell you getting those numbers from? Average time for me for Gold is more like 35 minutes. And the money count depends on how fast things get completed. It's basically 15/35/55 with an up or down depending on how fast people manage to get **** done.

Gold, if your not taking to long, is only mildly better then silver. So I would say silver is the best bet for 'quick' money as its more reliable for your time spent. That and 'finding' a group for gold can be a chore in and of its self but a single person (or 2) can carry a Silver Team if the others aren't 'to' horrible.

Though I've seen some bad,bad team mates screw up a silver run so bad there just isn't much anyone can manage with out being an infiltrator (and I try to play other stuff most the time).

-edit-
Bronze 35 minutes? lol man this is why I shouldn't post just after waking up. Fixed to show gold and whatnot.

Good team does Silver in 15, gold in 25. That makes figures uneven, Silver is the fastest, but is boring.

Yeah I've never done Silver in under 20 or Gold in under 35, and I don't remember seeing screenshots of people doing it much faster than that either.

Then again I always play with randoms and don't bother talking to people.

Last night me and some friends did a few gold runs in under 32 minutes. Best time was 28. Cha posted a pic on reddit somewhere.

Normally playing gold I get 72k credits, and never have I gotten less than 65. This makes gold much more worthwhile for me. Especially with the new get/salarian engineer method that everyone is doing (albeit boringly)
