That certainly would have been Mass Effect 3's biggest competition, but rumor has it that Diablo 3 soming out this year would be a faulty assumption.

Max Payne 3, GTA 5 seem like good candidates

I extremely doubt GTA 5 will release this year, can only see only 1 game per year for Rockstar and besides 2K won't allow it considering Infinite is releasing this year.. so that will give ME3 a run for it's money no doubt.

 The ONLY game I can see that would threathen Mass Effect 3 is... in a case a new Half-Life game would come out. Which isn't possible, I think.

And in my opinion, Far Cry 3 can be a strong candidate too.

Um, are all the people including Resident Evil 6 on their list in on some kind of a joke noone told me about? I'd like to think that it will be good like some of the older titles, but Resident Evil 5 was the best selling game in the series, so Capcom really has no reason to "change course". If Resident Evil 6 is going to be as much like Resident Evil 5 as I think, thEn its chances of being GOTY on a scale from 1 -10 are LOLNO.

I just got a Farcry 3 trailer looking at youtube, looking good.

Not the worlds biggest fan of the fist game, got the second around here somewhere but never actually played it. But I'm willing to give this one a go, maybe I'll dig out FC2 after I finish DX:HR.

It's early in the year and we don't know if any of these games are going to end up "flawed" on release.

Same here. I actualy liked Far Cry 2 for it's freedom and choice of weaponry. Good game in that regard! 

I remember some people complained about driving, but I liked it.

I foresee ME3 being highly praised and winning game of the year awards. However, I could be wrong since Dragon Age 2 didn't win much and we all know how... "lackluster" that game was even though almost every big reviewer praised it. So maybe this every BioWare game winning GOTY thing is just in my head.

They did such a snowjob on the DA2 reviews you can't really take anything about ME3 at face value till after the US release.

As I said, the only thing that could be a challenge for ME3 this year is an eventual new Half-Life game.

I don't expect nothing from Far Cry. Probably just another generic shooter without a soul.

I really want to see Hitman: Absolution. This is also going to be great game.
