I view a Mass Effect MMO as a tragic inevitability, so I will say what I said about TOR. Go ahead and do it, but don't do what you've done with TOR, which is preclude the development of more single-player KOTOR games.

Have your Mass Effect MMO or multiplayer COD-like game, but keep developing single-player story-driven experiences, too.

A Turn-Based Tactical game. That's what I would love to see.
Like good ol' Terror From the Deep.

If only Bioware would bother with turn based tactical.

Mass Effect should never be a MMO.

1. It alienates console fans.
2. Not everyone wants to waste their lives level grinding.
3. I refuse to pay a monthly fee to play ONE game.

1. I don't care.
2. Clearly you haven't played Old Republic. There is no grind which leads to people complaining how fast it was.
3. Guild Wars is buy to play. You know like a regular game.

If a Mass Effect mmo turned out to be anything like Star Wars the Old Republic then I wouldn't care. Old Republic is the same old generic MMO and the "story" is no better than LotrO or WoW. I don't hate TOR so don't even say that but I did expect something better. Voice acting and dialogue doesn't make an MMO better frankly the endgame, crafting, pvp and pve content has clearly suffered.

1. Many more people do so you lose.
2. Time investment is a requirement for any MMO. Most people have lives.
3. Never heard of it.
4. The only MMO I ever invested in is Diablo 2. I have a life now though so Idon't have time to invest in Diablo 3.

1. I said I don't care.
2. Like I said there is little to no grind in TOR which is frustrating a lot of players. People like me who go to school full time, work part, volunteer a lot managed to get to max level and fully geared in a matter of weeks compared to the several months I took in Vanilla WoW.
3. Well I just told you.
4. Diablo 2 is not an MMO its a dungeon crawler with 8 player co-op at max. Diablo 3 is not an MMO its a dungeon crawler with co-op. There is no persisent world, there are no 1000's of people doing things together.

Clearly you have this idea that people who play MMos have no life. Well I guess the fact that most MMO's right now are considered casual and the biggest one, WoW, has so many new mechanics just for casuals who don't have the time to devote to hardcore raiding and pvp. Please don't act like MMO's are some second job.

I think if they did a MMO RGP (/shooter) then the emphasis should still be on RPG and not have it simply devolve into 'must kill x Krogans, Geth or Reapers etc'. Also allow the player conversation choices to make like they do in the single player games (and if possible give some degree of choice to other players in the group as well).

Plus since it's a space MMO RGP (again /shooter) then it wouldn't hurt to include space battles.

And lastly, don't relegate it to just the PC. Kotor 1 and 2 was also on the Xbox. It's a shame that Swtor is PC only (at least we'll always have our time with Revan lol).

SWTOR is a good enough MMO, no need for a ME MMO. They should consider some exploration kinda stuff though.

It would ruin the franchise, don't like it at all. Maybe focus on a possible ME4.

I wouldn't have anything against an ME MMO, as long as it doesn't cost monthly like SWToR. -_-

That's just it. I might be tempted with an mmo, but it needs to be free to play and only paying for additional content in the form of expansions or other things around the main game.

I do not take well to having the pressure of playing a certain amount of time each month to get the money's worth.

I'm sure EA is very eager to spend another 200 million dollars on an MMO of an IP with only a fraction of a percent of the notoriety of Star Wars.

MMO means less SP games from a studio unless the studio expands dramatically. This is simply a fact. I don't have anything against the concept of MMOs, but they're incredible man-power & resource suckers. It's not just 5+ years long development cycles, it's also the continuing support from a large team working on constant expansions and additions for years after the intial launch.

Just no. TOR is enough for them, I don't want BioWare to jump all over MMO train. It took Blizzard freaking 6 years to release new game with single-player content after they released WOW.

No thanks, not an MMO player. I'd rather they devote the resources to a few new IPs or some Mass Effect spinoffs instead.

Unless they can make an MMO on the console, then I don't think Bioware would take the series there as most of the sales come from console.

Unless the next Xbox and PS have the capability to power an MMO?

They have the capabilities to power MMOs now. Most MMOs are powered server-side, needing only a client to collate files and data streams.

EA controls Bioware so there will be a new on eventually. Blizzard has always took years to release game probably longer than Valve does.

Yeah, but after WOW, things got even more extreme. Just look at their release calendar and it's obvious how much things slowed down because of WOW: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blizzard_Entertainment#Titles

I would love a Mass Effect MMO that is as open and player-driven as EVE Online but of course plays entirely differently and is just a little bit less complex. The difficulty is that ME thrives upon very deliberately created dramatic content (such as lore-illuminating NPC conversations) that are really only meant to be experienced once. It's difficult to imagine how an MMO might work unless it followed the fake single-player template of The Old Republic (WOWy; I would not want that at all). BioWare should take some time and dream up some design that turns players into the storytellers; that incentivizes people to role-play and develop the lore of the galaxy with consistency.

There have been experimental multiplayer interactive narrative systems that have turned story into something that functions in discrete units. It's a a fascinating prospect because most of the time story stuff exists completely above and outside of the mechanisms of gameplay; in a very real sense, story is all in the player's mind because it has no tangible aspects. It would be interesting to see a serious effort in an MMO to turn that paradigm on its head.

Am I the only one getting hung up on

“When you
deliver a game, and you deliver it for a player, you have to capture
what they think is the possibility space. You need to let them do
everything they think they should do, and you can’t block them from
doing anything they think they should be able to do. You have to nail
all the features and content that should be in that possibility space.“

Bioware, I've enjoyed three of your last four games. Yes, I enjoyed Dragon Age 2. Did not enjoy TOR. But this hasn't struck me as the studio's objective. They skimp on that even at reasonable times. Dragon Age 2's third act and TOR's Gault have no excuse to be with that line of thinking.

It's a good sign when one of the Doctors says something I consider a very GM-like way of thinking. But in my experience it doesn't translate down to the produced games all that well.

I never said I speaked for everyone. This is the vibe I get from most people on the forum to be specific. But I'm sure they're people out there that support this.
