Hey, I have 64 bit win 7.  I just preloaded on steam on my other machine, that is 32 bit.  Then I put it on my other one and if I click the launcher it gives me the error saying its wrong version of window.  If I do it on the 32 bit machine it just doesnt launch anything.  DA:O can run 64 bit right? I dont see it mentioned anywhere, Im thinking it may be since I copied my preload from my other comp and steam got me the wrong version or something?

Error:
This program is not compatible with the version of windows you are running, check to see if you need x64 or x86

I use windows 7 64 bit on my cpu and it works fine for me. It could be because you copied from 32 bit over to 64 bit. You might have to re download it again on 64. Are you using vista or xp on one computer and another OS on the other? That could be the problem as well.

hmm would you mind using a host service or something and hosting the daolauncher exe you have so I can see if just changing that works? I am converting my main comp to win 7 64 bit too, and it be nice if I knew I could just replace executables and have it work ok. Though im thinking maybe not

I think the steam encypter/decrypter is the culprit. May be steam choose the decoder according to your version of OSs (x86 or x64)

That is the error you get no matter what on a pre-load. The exe is encrypted and Windows (incorrectly) thinks that it must be a 32bit file. In reality, it doesn't really matter, 64bit OSes can run 32bit programs...dont worry, just wait until the release date.

BTW, I checked, and I get the exact same error message on my 64bit Windows 7...

Ahhh yes, the executable file is still encrypted until the official released time.

Silly me.

Except that I get no such error when I run it on my 32 bit machine.

And yes, 64bit machines can use 32bit programs, but the program must indicate that it is 32 bit, however im sure bioware knows what they ar edoing.

mshimer, you get that error when you try to run it when you preloaded on your windows 7 then?
