1) Yes, BW said MP will get "updates" post-release (one imagines updates is to be read as DLC), in a thread about Krogan Vanguard.

There will be more in DLC, but the ones you saw on the demo are the ones you are going to get in the full game.

Day 1 DLC "From Ashes" is scheduled... a new squad member, mission to Eden Prime, the return of an old enemy... one of those has to tie in but I'm not sure which...
As far as character DLC I'm not sure. The logical thinking mind would be that the first set of extra chars will be Geth Platforms... Infiltrators and Engineer no doubt. Another possibility is a Sentinel/Soldier Batarian and perhaps a Vanguard/Adept Volus for lulz...
