Not sure on the legitimacy of this, but I'm sure I read somewhere he was James Vega before James had his Jersey Shore makeover. When the script went to Blur (? which ever studio did the FMV) I believe Vega was still in a developmental stage, as was probably a lot of the narrative. Over time Vega got rewritten to a Beef McManhuge rather than a Statham clone.

No. Bioware confirmed ages ago that Vega is not Nigel, nor was he ever going to be.
