Is it possible to load only the first two pages of the chargen GUI (ie: the race/gender/class/origins screen and then the portrait screen) and have the chargen end there before the player gets to the attribute and talent points spending screens?
If so can anybody give me a nudge in the right direction on how to go about doing this?

That's pretty much how the quick play option works - there is then a script that fires that sets the points for you - but I'm not sure if there's a way to force it.
Can you explain what you are hoping to achieve? Maybe then we can offer some advice on the best way to try and do that.
One thought - you could always modify the class 2DA so they don't get any points to spend. You can also override the chargen script and basically set whatever skills and abilities you want on the character.
Maybe that is what you want?

In the project I am creating players begin in a small room and move on to the next where they fight wave after wave of darkspawn. I'm fiddling around with a way to have the player be able to interact with a particular creature in the "preparation" room that allows them to respec their character into other races/classes as you might have been able to guess by another thread of mine. My two options are to have it all done via conversation plot flags (which I currently have working to some degree) or to have an option in the conversation with the creature loading the chargen GUI.
The characters will be lvl 25 automatically (I'm not sure if the chargen allows levelling before you load the chargen) and I'd prefer it if the chargen didn't assign default abilities or force them to spend their points right away. The problem with the conversation plot flags/script method that I currently have in use atm is (once I iron out the bugs) it does not allow for the player to customise the appearance and/or name of the Hero.

run the usual chargen script - but have a look at modifying it to do what you want. For a good way to do this without having to edit core resources have a look at my tutorial on the wiki: social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/Backgrounds_tutorial
This covers editing backgrounds but shows a general approach to editing character gen.
A combination of scripting and limiting the number of points the player can spend by modifying some 2DAs should get you what you want.
