I think that you should redo this with a full length video in the event people challenge you on this, because it would be easy for people to make claims based on you having a Widow X (when very few if any people have this), the fact that this video could be duped by a skilled player who tweaked their .ini and who had companions in the game solo to res the player until a late wave, and for aid in hacking waves.

 

Any comments about me using cheats or modding files I take as a compliment.  I didn't make this to prove I'm legit, the people I play with know I am - been this way since ME2 where you too could mod files but I didn't. Widow X was hard to get but that's an item you can obtain in the game if you invest enough time in it. I don't get the last part of your comment, but again - anyone who thinks I cheat, thanks, I guess.  I've always had hackusations coming my way especially in BF3 so kinda used to it already.

So I tried Claymore with disruptor ammo I.  Worked like a charm.

So basically it boils down to this: your ammo bonus damage (20%/30%, depending on ammo type, of the BASE damage of your weapon, mod excluded) has to be able to completely deplete the enemy's remaining defense layer.  It doesn't matter whether you are using disruptor or warp, as long as the ammo type has some bonus against that type of defense (disruptor and warp both work for barriers, for example).

If the ammo depletes the defense, then your weapon can do full damage against health.  If the ammo can't deplete the defense, then your weapon damage only applies to defense layer and doesn't touch health at all.

You wouldn't know from watching the vid. Salarians may be warm-blooded, but that dude has some coldass ice water in his veins.

@ royard Thanks for digging into this, it's very helpful. Seems weird that no such mechanic exists on Silver (because you can headshot-kill phantoms without having an ammo power on). Yet on gold it feels so restrictive for the bolt actions. It would be really nice if a Dev commented on this...

@brownfinger I only attempted to solo gold twice before that run you saw on video. It was the same day I got the Widow X and told my friends "hey, you know what, my build is not optimal but this might actually work".

Both previous attempts I reached end of wave 9 and naturally used up my medigel around wave 9 because I expected to die at 9 or 10 at least once. And then subsequently on the recorded run, when I ran out of medigel towards wave 7 I thought I was doomed and there's no way in hell I was going to survive. I briefly contemplated just quitting the game. On top of everything I got the hardest hacking objective you can get... had a few moments where I thought Cerberus would be serving roast Salarian for dinner.

But yeah, when I finished the run the closest feeling I can compare it to is one of those suicidal vanguard charges in ME2 where it's a blur and then everyone around u is dead with red veins on screen. It's like "did this really just happen..." And then I had the video to remind me it did.

I think I posted my build earlier, but here it is again:

Tactical cloak max: lvl 4 40% damage increase, lvl 5 cooldown decrease, lvl 6 sniper rifle damage increase.

Energy drain max: lvl 4 damage increase, lvl 5 cooldown decrease, lvl 6 damage increase (not synthetic)

Salarian operative passive max: lvl 4 weapon damage, lvl 5 headshot damage, lvl 6 sniper rifle weight -30%

Fitness max: lvl 4 shields & health, lvl 5 shield recharge rate, lvl 6 shields & health. 

I'm using SteelSeries Xai mouse.

I have to admit, some of those quick scope near misses on moving Nemesis and Phantoms struck a nerve - they are clear reminders of the times I missed the same shot, except under far less stressful conditions.

As for the people who accusing you of hacking, the old FPS motto applies: "If people aren't accusing you of cheating, then you just aren't trying hard enough."

Sorry for all the questions, but what's your 360degree measurement? As in, if you stand still and move your mouse until your character rotates a full 360 degrees how many inches does your mouse move? I usually have mine set to 3" for sniping.

Considering:
1. Going through waves 8/9/10 with no medigel is harder than going through waves 1-7 with medigel.
2. Having a widow X is only the result of playing this game so damn much.
3. Most tweaks you could do (Improving damage, health, runspeed, power refresh time etc) would be easily noticeable in the video if they were significant.

I see no reason for him to record a new video as proof.

And yeah, I do miss more than usual in this video. Was laser accurate in my previous attempt and didn't make it past wave 9 ... go figure. That video was recorded after a very long day though (work + 2 failed solo attempts + some previous games) so by that time I was already sleepy, didn't really have the sharpest reflexes. Still good enough to get the job done though

@niripas CPI at 800, ExactRate 600 (to complement 120Hz monitor), exactaim = 0, exactaccel = 0, freemove = 0

Bear in mind those settings are individual and you should tailor them to what u feel most comfortable with. Are you a high sensitivity/low sens gamer? Do you like controlling the mouse with your hand or you like whole arm movements etc.

@jimmyw404 I don't know my 360 degree measurement because I've no measuring tape handy.  In most games I set 180 turn point to be around half my mousemat (steelseries SX). Based off that, my 360 measurement is 12 inches. That seems like very low sensitivity to me considering I never actually move my arm and aim only with my hand.  But yeah, I believe that is correct for ME3.

Don't be dense, read all of the posts in the thread.  I've done nothing but tell him good job and that I believed he did it before the video.  Others were the one doubting that he did it without modding.

If it's insulting, it's self-insulting that you leapt to conclusions and then decided to randomly post something.

800 CPI is bad, the XAI goes in 450cpi jumps internally, so its either 450 or 900 or more. other values are interpolated.

Possibly the last cloak evolution. I really need to try it out in game and decide. I'm happy with my current build and you can see this build can solo Gold - so if the question is would I change anything because this build desperately needs improving - then no. But in order to make it even more efficient I'll have to play around with the respec cards and see whether there's any real advantages to changing any of the skills. Before I've done that I really can't judge.

The only important thing I'd change (if I could) is to take Warp Ammo instead of Cryo every time there's phantoms. It would have made things A LOT easier and saved me quite a bit of time. :happy:

Just curious on your level 4 choice of Salarian operative. I noticed you chose the extra 7.5% damage over the +20% power recharge speed. Then in the 6th tier you chose the -30% weapon weight instead of the +10% damage. Did you chose this because -30% weight was more significant than the +10% by a larger margin than the 4th tier choice? Or with widowX do you hit some kind of hard/soft cap with the weapon weight?

Just watched the full video, great job. I can tell that when you're pressured your ability increases dramatically, very good attribute to have. lol @ 23s left when some ****ing phantom jumps out of no where and leaves you with 1% health.
