Does it move away from the isometrics and make the character models more like Dragon Age II? If it would, it would be a good chance to try and play it this time.

I've replayed both game 5-6 times more or less and the game still holds in term of graphics (better than any 3D games of that period... yes, I'm talking of Deus Ex) and it's better than any other following RPG in terms of gameplay, combat, story, quest design and so on. It's simply a classic and classics don't get old. They improve over time like good wine.
I've followed DA just because it was called a BG spiritual successor and while appreciate the first game and don't hate the second one, it was nothing like a true spiritual successor to BG. So, my hunger for a similar experience is still there (and that's the reason why I keep playing those games). I believe that there's still a big and unexplored market for such a game. The success of DA:O (wich was closer to the BG model) speaks for itself.
I don't believe that we're talking of BG3 though. Probably it's a IOS port/HD remake. Considering that Atari does not hold anymore the rights to D&D, I'm afraid that a new game is impossible. Still, if the remake is successfull, it could lead to a a true BG3 (whatever the game is called) especially with D&D 5 on the horizon. BG was an integral part in the relaunch of D&D at the beginning of the millennium.
So, yes, I will buy it a 4th time.

If we're going to get a remaster, I want some new unique portraits for the Bhaalspawn to use. Yeah you could import your own portraits, but they just didn't go with the the other in-game portraits very well.
There are so many awesome portriat packs to download, it ain't even funny.

and now for some shameless self promotions:

Still, it's nice to see BG in the news again and the reaction on forums.

2) Bioware does not have a license to do any more D&D work. They don't even own any of the characters or any IP outside of the actual engine used to create Baldur's Gate. The game name is a registered trademark of Wizards of the Coast. I think the only thing EA is allowed to do is port the existing game to other platforms, like what they've done previously.
3) I find it hard to believe people in this day and age still think Faerun, D&D, etc, are owned or controlled by Bioware. Bioware can't make any kind of Baldur's Gate sequel without getting a license--that's why they created Dragon Age, they simply don't own that property and want to own their own IP.
If anything, another team has gotten permission to port it to another platform--iOS, Browser or Facebook Based, etc, but it's likely to just be a direct port. Depending on the terms of the license--I think all Bioware/EA can do right now is just keep the existing game in print, but they can't add content or do anything major to the engine.

nada at WotC about this at all. Were it a new video game in the D&D setting, I'm positive they'd be hyping it right now.
Even their forums have one thread, with all of 2 posts.
So, yeah, not big as far as the owners of D&D are concerned. Not even as big as NWO or Daggerdale, which they were hyping LONG ago. Or their Heroes of Neverwinter game, DDO, etc.

I recentrly re-palyed all those games. They are still great.
And your record is weak. I have at least 12 playtroughs of BG2 and 6 playtroughts of BG1.
Within the past 12 months? Well done.

Really? All the runs through the games that I mentioned previously were on Win7 64 bit. I had no issues with slow downs.

Why? Beamdog did the HD update of MDK2.

i would never buy apple crap. and there will never be a "hardcore/classical" crpg with dozens of hours of new content on portable devices.
Bard's Tale has already been ported to iPad/iPhone, among other "classic" rpgs.
And as for the dozens of hours of new content, why would they be adding so much new content to a port?
