There's an Alaundo quote from the games there now. Also the source code lines changed somewhat.

<!-- Take heart fellow adventurers, for you have curried the favor of Boo, the only miniature giant space hamster in the Realm! -->

<!-- I can teach you how to use your wrath. -->

It's officially: I will be checking this site every damn day until there is an announcement. Way too curious to stop now.

Either they are trolling us badly or a pleasnt surprise is waitng us :)

I actually reinstalled Baldur's Gate 1 about four days ago and swore to myself that this time I would make it through the series (bad time with ME3 though). Surprisingly, I'm enjoying it alot more than I remember, so depending on this announcement, I could be interested.

I've been trying to figure out how to install the mod that lets you play through both games using the BG2 engine. Any advice?

You're talking about tutu, I'm guessing? I wish I could help. I wanted to do my first playthrough completely vanilla (aside from installing Tales of the Sword Coast), so that I could really appreciate all the changes they made with BG2. There's alot of BG vets on these forums though, so without a doubt someone here knows how.

Tutu is only such mod I've used. Can warmly recommend it. Very easy install, very polished conversion, very  stable game. You do need both BGs to install and run it though.

So we can safely assume that it won't be the abominable 4E rules then?! If it's a game you guys are going to announce anyways.

I enjoyed 3.0 and (to a lesser extent) 2.0. However, I personally do not want anyone touching 4.0 with a ten foot pole.

Tutu or the Baldur's Gate Trilogy will allow you to do this. What specific issues are you having? There's a good post/guide Here in the GOG BG forums.

I won't hyperventilate. I won't hyperventilate. I won't hyperventilate...

They're going to kill me with anticipation. What the hell is wrong with these sadists? XD

I think tablets in general would work pretty well with Infinity engine games and would certainly give them new life. Granted, I don't have a tablet, so I'll be perfectly happy if this is just an nice looking HD version of the BG games for the PC. If its just something limited to Apple devices or iOS....meh.

And that trailer isn't by Oster or Beamdog, its just fan made. At least, according to Oster on his twitter.

And hearing Sarveok and Irenicus again is going to make me fire up BG:wizard:

"You will suffer! You will all Suffer!" Damn that line from Irenicus always gets me. That and his conversation with Ellesime.

David Warner really nailed the bitter anger and resentment Irenicus held towards his enemies, and made the character way more menacing then he already was by the premise of the games start. I wont say the character doesn't stand on its own even without the voice, but damn, Warner's voice acting just puts the character on a whole new level.

I'm cautiously optimistic now that this might be a HD release or something better. This is getting too much hype for just a port.

Most of the hype was created by the fans, to be fair. The site was just sitting there simply existing and fans started drooling.

Agreed. If it's just an HD remake/IOS port it's not a big issue and our anticipation is not Trent's fault off  course.

But I must say that no other series of games creates such reaction any time the hope of a sequel is even mentioned. That's a testament to the greatness of the BG trilogy. No Diablo, no Starcraft, nothing can rival the passion of BG fans to the original games (maybe, the only community who could rival us was the Fallout one but they get their arse butchered with FO3).

There are stil modders doing wonderful things for BG1/2.

Honestly, I would be so happy to see a new IE/D&D CRPG doing well on the market (in the face of EA/Bioware market "expert").

Because we are THAT desperate :(

Sarevok, Bodhi, İrenicus and Melissan. Be aware we are coming back b!tchslap you in a not so distant future(i hope...)

One way or another. Well im back to IW2 :)

Edit: And i agree with Federicov, im not caring a bit right now for Diablo3 or Heart of the Swarm.
All my hype is targeting an BG/D&D game from now on.

Edit part 2: Maybe a HD remake of Fallout 1&2

I would! ;) I felt Irenicus was a weak antagonist. Those memorable lines and Warner's voice acting are what saved him in my opinion. I know it isn't the popular opinion, but I vastly preferred Sarevok to Irenicus. Not that he was as threadbare as Amelyssan.

Y'all will between my sessions of Baldur's Gate. :P One way or another I'm playing that game again this year.

Bard's Tale has already been ported to iPad/iPhone, among other "classic" rpgs.
And as for the dozens of hours of new content, why would they be adding so much new content to a port?

i was talking about N E W crpgs with dozens of hours of content! that's a thing that will never happen. portable devices, excluding handhelds here, are made for the casual crowd. the budget of those games is tiny even compared to the budget of old crpgs back in the days, that's why they're worth only a few dollars. plus they're made with no learning curve and quick enjoyment.

btw why should someone buy a port of game for a crappy device with a small screen with almost no precise control while the original still plays without issues on the latest os?
