btw why should someone buy a port of game for a crappy device with a small screen with almost no precise control while the original still plays without issues on the latest os?

You're right Semper and I agree. But I've said that I would if there's new (quality) content for it, just because there has been nothing like BG on the market for ages and I'm starving. No point buying an IOS port for the sake of it.

Btw, I would like to hear your opinion about Apple since I trust your position a lot: I've never bought a Mac/I-something in my life 'cause I find the whole thing simply an overpriced fashion and I do not like the "closed" software philosophy behind it.

Sorry. I'm getting this for my phone. I don't give a **** what the negative "cultivated" kids say. Even better if they retain mod-compatibility in this.

Is 'boo' ban-worthy? I guess not.

You noob Mobile-gamers just destroyed the true gaming experience of PCs.

Too harsh. Board-gamers and P&P Role-players could say the same thing about PC gaming. Mobile gaming is perfect for casual gaming and there are some real gems for those devices like Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja and Flight Control.

But I agree: I can't see the point in bringing an epic trilogy worth 200/250+ hours of hardcore CRPG gaming on the Iphone or similar. On the tablet: I don't know... I should try but I would miss the mouse/keyboard setup a lot.

to put it simple all the i-whatever are shiny plastic garbage without practical features. they're overhyped and there're way better alternatives on the market. for my taste apple's products have too many drawbacks.

apple/osx vs microsoft/windows is a whole other league. years ago both products were for totally different target groups. due to the different data structure of the operation systems the mac found its niche within the media production while windows was the crowned king in every office/business solution. the osx was more stable and allowed faster access and therefore efficient workstations with "huge" files and heavy editing.

today this is all futile. the hardware is the same and there're almost no differences in usage and stability between the different operation systems besides gaming. so if you ignore games only your personal oppinion dictates what to buy ;)

 Oh Boy.
I'm Gonna need a Swig from Fine Dwarven Ale!
Seriously though....
"For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of the memory. -->
-- And then... it returned. Better than it was before. -->"

This pretty much implies it will be a Remake, and since it's made by Beamdog(who remade MDK2 in HD with virtually no alterations), it is all the more likely.

Does this mean that this is gonna be Beamdog's bread and butter then?

cause if that's the case i'll go straight to their HQ and BEG for them to Remake Planescape: Torment.

So, just to sum up, our requests demands include Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, and Fallout. Anything else we want to add?

Yes, Black Isle was working on a video game called TOrn at one point but had to cancel it, they need to make it and release it.

‏SDW: @Trent Oster The Baldur's Gate website is teasing something?
Trent Oster: @sdw Is teasing inappropriate?
Trent Oster: @sdw #BaldursGate was/is a pretty epic title.
Trent Oster: Apparently, owning a URL can start a lot of speculation.
Trent Oster: hard to find a good domain privacy service these days :-)
Slashbrb: @Trent Oster So there's a new Baldurs Gate website bit.ly/zHrEoP Bet it's an Origin required FPS developed by no-one from the original team.
Trent Oster: @slashbrb Well, one is wrong for certain. I was on the original #Baldursgate team. Twice.
Trent Oster: Loving the fan reaction to the site baldursgate.com #baldursgate
Trent Oster: Do you like our obscure reference? I'm not even sure what we are hinting at.
Trent Oster: Our intent is not to make anyone lose sleep. BG did that enough :) Takes us some time for all the right eyes see stuff before it goes up
Ndysaurus: @TrentOster Dammit Trent!!! How much time do you need?
Trent Oster: @ndysaurus Well, Neverwinter took me five years. :-)
DaemonGildas: @TrentOster If there's a new Baldur's Gate project underway, will it still have those awesome Character-portraits? :D
Trent Oster: @DaemonGildas I'm a huge fan of the portraits. I must also confess great admiration for the Icewind Dale portraits.

If there's ever going to be a Neverwinter Nights 3, I want the portraits back. Or if that's out of the question, at least improving on the character models would be nice. NWN 2 3D character pictures were a poor substitute for the drawn portraits because of the limited character customization and overall unflattering textures the races had.

Sorry for slightly offtopic rant, just wanted to get that off my chest for some reason.

I agree with Trent Oster on the Icewind Dale portraits. Waaay back when I wrote a review about it on a gaming site, I made special mention of how awesome they were. Justin Sweet is a truly inspiring artist.

Neverwinter Nights 2 had portrait functionality, by the way. Obsidian patched it in later on. Sure, there are no default portraits out the box; but making your own takes all of five minutes.

Didn't know that, been awhile since I played it. Awesome news though, thanks.
And I was aware of the MMO, but but kindly ignored it, I don't think it's really a sequel per se, and I'm overall not intrested in it. I'll stick with my groupies in NwN/NwN2 PW worlds for now.

In case you want to use your own stuff instead of surfing for portrait packs, you need a 128x128 TGA image. There should be a portrait folder inside Neverwinter Nights 2's "my documents" folder. You select it in-game by double clicking on a character's image on the character sheet, and choosing a new image from the list. Unlike NWN1, you only need the one image file.

I'm not interested in Neverwinter either. It takes too much power out of the community's hands. Their content creation system pales in comparison to NWN and NWN2's toolsets.

Maybe Ultima? I don't think I would ever get into the game with the way it looks. And even though I admit how shallow that is for a gamer to say, it's from a time way past mine. I love Baldur's gate to bits. But I don't think I could stand the black and blue lines/dots of Ultima.

Ultima with the infinity engine would be sweet for RPG fans :-)

Btw this is Ultima currently:

Ultima in the Infinity Engine would be unremarkable, because the underlying game is unremarkable regardless of the graphics. Ultima 4 through 7 however, different story.
