Odd cause the Ardat-Yakshi thing sounded familiar to me too. w/e
Went back to the artbook and it says they scrapped the idea for the human to be attached to the ravagers because it was "too disgusting".
Same goes for me....but i think i know why..and its kinda spoiler area.

"With something from Ardat-Yakshi in them"

These enemies don't look anything like the ones in "Dead Space". And "Dead Space" wasn't even the pioneer of these types of monsters, anyway.
You're absolutely correct, however, they've done one of the best jobs portraying them.
