it depends on your preference. I think sentinel would be a bit less squishy, but both can dish out damage.
do you want your enemies to explode from yellow tech explodium or purple/blue biotic explodium?

But it's all your playing style. Do you want sheer power or more defensive capabilities?

Adepts usually hang back and take their time breaking defenses, CC'ing and then doing combos to heavily damage or instakill enemies. But to play them aggressively just requires a good feel of their CDs and which powers to use when. Less margin for error.

Adepts are harder to play fast and aggressively, so Sentinel might be your choice. Sentinels are pretty easy to play just running up to enemies, spaming random powers and then finally shotgunning them in the face.

Sentinels don't have Shotguns.
I would suspect that Sentinels are easier to play than Adepts, however I still wouldn't call them easy to play, at least not till you get to pick a weapon specilization later in the game.
Well.. At least on insanity.. On lower difficulties, yeah you can just spam powers with your tech armor on and charge up to people with litle to no ill effects.

What you describe can be done on insanity, it's actually the best way to use Assault Armor. Sentinel is probably the easiest class on insanity if you ask me. I'm speaking about difficulty, the simplest would be the soldier (also one of the easiest).

Yes any class can have a shotgun, but hte post I quote seems to imply they start with it or something of the sort. Or perhaps i'm just reading into it.Arkalezth wrote...

I realize the use of assault armor, but you cannot charge straight into people like a maniac with assault armor.. Because chances are it won't be recharged quick enough to get past the second time she shield goes down. Which can take all of one or two shots on insanity. It's a great power none the less.

So, if you spec for Guardian and have the Research cooldown upgrade for Tech, you can cast TA practically every ~6-7 seconds or so, so that your squadmates can keep recasting their powers that often.
So, if you have Tali and/or Legion using Attack Drone, you can keep recasting when needed, to keep enemies focused on them and not you. Same for Kasumi, Liara and so on.
Thus the class can be very, very effective and easy to get into on Insanity. : )
And I had just as much fun with the Adept on Insanity, but enemies with health regen can be annoying. And you can reach a few areas that will get frustrating, but will be simply enough to overcome.

Sentinels are the easiest to play aggressively on any difficulty. The fact you have to wait until mid-game to get an actual shotgun is moot, since Assault Armor and Passive alone can win fights. In this sense, shooting and power spamming is almost entirely optional and arguably complicate your game by messing up your AArmor CD... Adepts are innately harder to play than Sentinels on low difficulties in the sense that spamming powers or shooting your guns is actually mandatory instead of just standing there getting shot so your AA detonates.
All this is of course a generalization that assumes NG+ with a lvl 30 character. In reality, the fun and rewarding part of playing either class is that they both arguably start out weaker than everyone else but end up very powerful in the end... It just so happens the Sentinel ends up being practically invincible, while with the Adept you actually still have to work for your killz.

I never used a shotgun on sentinel... you can rush up into Tech Armor detonation range with SMG's or AR's nearly as effectively as with a shotgun. Plus those weapons are more tacticool than a duck hunting gun.
Tacticool!
