Download Arrival, and everything will come together.

You shouldn't have to play DLC to understand what is going on in the game.

Besides he's asking what happened to your squad.

Samara, Zaeed, Mordin, Legion, and Kasumi could all leave to prepare for the Reapers or just because they were hired and had no plans to stay.

Thane is dying and may like to spend time with his son.  Garrus's dad is apparently dying (first I heard of that).

Still that doesn't explain the others.  Shepard is Grunt's Battlemaster, I can't see why he would leave.  Tali could be back on the Flotilla but if she's exiled she has no place else to go and made the Normandy her new homeship anyway, so that's odd.  If you turned on the Illusive Man, Miranda and Jacob have no other place to go.  Jack I could see running off unless you made her a LI.  So yeah I hope they have some explanations for these.

I think it's Garrus's mom that's dying (if I remember the Shadowbroker Dossier correctly).

I think Miranda will be back with Cerberus, the Illusive Man knows where her sister is and could threaten her with it.  Got no explanation for Jacob though...

I didn't know about its existance. And there shouldn't be a DLC for a crucial story element.
How about they start charging DLC for a few good chunks of the game?

I'm wondering what they did to the Cerberus crew? Did they line them up and shot them up? did they electrocute them? did they torture them? did they send them to the grotto?

Have you read the thread? Arrival doesn't explain why ALL your loyal crew members have done a runner.

How does it not? His ship's been more or less taken by the Alliance. And he's in detention.

What, is Legion going to hang around in the holding cells?

What's the major distinction between DLC and disc releases in that regard? "Gotta buy ME1 DERRRRP"

It's part of the main plot of the series.

Don't have 360 or a decent PC. I got to be a fan of ME through PS3, and its likely to stay this way, Derp.

I'm sure things are explained throughout the story. How long did it take for Bioware to explain how Shepard ended up in Cerberus hands in ME2 (assuming you even got Liara to confess)? They probably didn't want 2 hours of exposition involving you turn yourself in and everyone leaving. At best we'd end up with something like this.

How is that a point? You skip stuff, you miss stuff.

Missing ME1 wasn't necessarilly your fault. But missing Arrival is.

Hahaha I must admit it was entertaining. But I'm talking about a few sentences mentioning the past. Like
- "How are you Shepard since *this happened* and  *this*. After "this" your old cerberus crew sure *that*, But its time to move forward now that Rippers are comming"
I dont think its that hard to put something like that in. I heard longer conversations about sliced bread in ME2.

You need to learn the difference between main game and DLC.

I really think that is the point, though. While it made more sense in ME2 seeing as how you were unconscious/dead, I think they're going for the same sort of idea. You're dropped in the game and eventually this get explained (if you ask the right questions). Honestly, the whole trial thing was probably a bad idea but they kind of wrote themselves into a corner by having Shepard switch sides so often. Honestly, they should have put the trial at the end of a free DLC for ME2 (sort of like the end of Star Trek IV so they didn't have to pull a Star Trek III at the start of Star Trek V).

@ Taleroth

Tehnically nothing is anyones "fault", mine either, for not buying or knowing about some DLC.
Downloadable content as a rule always stays optional and not "necessary" for 'full" experience.
But w/e it all went too far offtopic at this point.

Let's just spoon-feed all the spoilers!

Seriously, you find out where your crew is and why. Trying to explain the details would be spoiling elements of the game, both main and side missions, and this isn't the discussion forum to do that in. If you want details, go to the spoiler group, or PM me.

The beginning is a bit jarring, but it makes up for it rather quickly. Just be patient.

As for your crew being gone. Shep is grounded and pretty much on house arrest. Every one went to get their respective species ready for a slight threat (the reapers) until shep is allowed to come out and play again.

This will all be explained in game, to say exactly why they are where they are would be spoiling it.

They're only as optional as any form of entertainment is. There's no reason DLC should be extra-optional. Games are games. Whether they're download or disc.

They could have made ME3 just one big DLC if they'd wanted to.

Actually the real reason is that your love interest wasn't there to convince you to steal the car and go to the big dance anyway like they did in ME1. All a giant conspiracy.

A DLC that lasts 30h hours and costs $60 is a game.
Additional game content is DLC.

The first doesn't need the second in order to be complete. It never did.
You get it now?
