I think It is not about hating. When playing a team game, every class heading off on its own is subject to 'scorn'. I get gripes about my Krogan beserker. I suspect there are also people complaining about infiltrators.
Vanguard get the most coplaints by the speed they move over the battlefield.

Probably because vans charging is a lot flashier than infs cloaking and running off.  On the flip side, depending on how they've leveled and what their loadout is, an inf can get in, cap an objective, and get to safety without ever taking any serious fire.

yeah but the vanguard can take that "serious fire" away from the rest of the team basically doing the same thing a cloaking infiltrator could do but reverse.

you might not understand cause my mind can link things with such extreme oppisites.

Just so I am clear, I am not bashing Vanguards, just saying why they draw some complaints.
My friend plays a Vanguard and I team perfectly with her.
Yes she gets the highest amount of XP and  I had to resurrect her often enough when she started.
That said, she now draws a lot of aggro and keeps enemies of our backs. (Though I still watch her back to make sure she doesn't get into more than she can handle.)

Aggro sponges have their use in any PvE setting.

Yes, I just brought MMO terminology into a Mass Effect conversation.

I agree with this wholeheartedly.  I just don't think your average ME3 player has that kind of mentality.  I guess you could argue, too, that in place of a Vanguard, you could have an Engineer with their Combat Drone to tank.  Combat Drone is only a temporary fix, however.

I had gotten the impression, but that probably was just my fault.
I am not too good at English (and spell-check only improves my writing, not my understanding)
