Dumb question, What exactly is EMS? And how difficult is it to get the 5000 EMS for the perfect ending?

Sword and Hammer. I like the name. I'm not sure if I will be happy with all of the variations in the endings to ME3 ( I'm not even sure if I like the perfect ending ), the replay value in ME3 may not be as good as I was hoping it would be.

I don't like the bit with the flashback. WTF Bioware?

from what the guy who has the space edition says there are 3 endings you chose from Destory , Merge , control

So basically ME2 is completely and utterly pointless? Yea thanks.

I've never played the first game, received the second as a gift. Oh sure I meant to grab it and do the whole epic thing 'proper' but eventually got restless, watched the summary and went at it and loved it. Thing is ME2 is all about the characters, the plot itself is 'the smoking man tells you to do stuff', the real story is in character interaction. I always just assumed ME2 was less than perfect bridge between games, a chance to fill the cast with memorable characters.

Except Shepard (and the devs) apparently don't seem to remember any of them? I was quite looking forward to jumping into ME3, but I guess ME2 fans need not apply? I'm fine without a perfect ending, I'm fine without romances in general for that matter, but why would I consider buying and playing ME3 based on 'your choices matter' when they clearly and explicitly don't?

Mass Effect 2 did a great job of making me care about my crew.. a shame Mass Effect 3 seems like it wants to punish me for playing the wrong game.

So, there's no path that leads to Reapers' victory?!

That's it. All I have to learn about Mass Effect 3 in order to not play it. End of trilogy to me.

Sure there is: you get yourself and your squad killed in ME2.

Alternately, wait around like a dumbcluck until time runs out in ME2: Arrival.

There; Reapers harvest all life and depart for another 50,000 years.

I know. I just don't know if it's worth replaying every Shepard I have in Mass Effect 2 in order to give them their deaths and dooming the galaxy. Specially because to get yourself killed in the Collectors' base you have to be an idiot.

Edit: I don't have Arrival and I don't plan to download it.

EMS?
What's EMS?
Is that Galactic Readiness? Or War Assets?
Also, will we be able to monitor our EMS throughout the game, so we'll know if everything's going to either succeed or get screwed up?

If you check on the demo (and if i'm not wrong), your readiness amount can be tracked next to the paragon / renegade amount.

Ah, that's useful. Thanks.
Now instead of worrying about our Para/Rene scores, we have to worry about our Readiness/EMS.
Still a bit more freedom in choices, and it makes sense lore-wise, but still...

Am I the only one willing to reserve my judgement on this until I have played it for myself and experienced a few of the endings? Because to be quite frank I'd rather experience it, THEN **** about it rather than reading it and ****ing before I've had a chance to play.

FML, I hope the paragon ending will be different... playing your arse off in ME1 and ME2 just to see your whole crew including your LI vanish on an unknown planet... WTF?!? xD

Agreed. I'll still play this game and love it. and quite frankly idk why people are getting so pissed about the ending. they said from the get go this would not end how other titles they've done ended. They said that the end wouldn't be the "Yay we won now let's celebrate ending" I personally like what I've heard from the endings. It's that bittersweet ending. Regardless of how the endings will be when I play it, this will still be my favorite series of all time. Standing strong as a true Mass Effect fan through and through. B)

Well, I've woken up now after a fitful slumber and am slowly beginning to come to grips with all this.

I think the thing I'm most upset about is this: throughout all the games, there is a theme of unity. Your crew is united behind you, and you're facing all these struggles together.

But, in the end...there is no unity.

Also, the endings should answer more questions than they raise...not so here, for me at least. Maybe that's a good or bad thing based on your perspective.

I really wanted Shepard to have to deal with the aftermath, and not alone. There's nothing he/she can effectively do on his/her own. I wanted him/her to be a part of the recovery effort, not destined to die alone in the end.

Indeed, "we were your team Commander. Wasn't much keeping us together after you died." -Joker

Shepard is the link that holds his team together. And (like I said in the other topic) since he gets to live in the best "destroy" ending, there is no other reason to have him alive but die a slow death being alone? 85% DLC for a rescue of sorts.

Yeah, I'm hoping, otherwise, having him stay alive there is just twisting the knife.

Yeah, I wanted an ending where they might be living in a very, very torn galaxy, possibly back to the beginning the way BSG ended, but they were all in it together. And it gives you at least a flicker of hope for the darker times to come.

We got that in ME2...if everyone survived, or most survived, you definitely got the impression that the next game was going to come with heavy losses, but at least there was some flicker of hope. In the ending where Shep dies, there is none of that, you definitely feel like the galaxy is screwed. Idk, maybe the Paragon ending is the only flicker of hope we have, and that's what I've come to believe. I'll have to see it in-game to tell y'all what I feel about it. I just opened up a video I took of the beginning of ME1 and I just felt so...sad. I can't even describe it.

Speaking of the bad ME2 ending...I wonder what the tidbit will be if you imported a game where Shep dies. They said you wouldn't be able to play, but there would be something there.

If this leak is correct, then s***. I love dark, twisted endings...but seriously Bioware, you're just being lazy. Its almost KOTOR style, Shep's forever gone and the team is left behind. Obviously ME2 meant nothing if this leak is to be believed.

Can someone point me to the spoiler that clearly states that the normandy is separated? I've been PM'd the endings summary, but nowhere on the page does it say it's stranded. Also, it says that the only way you know if Shepard is alive is via a 'hint' right before the credits roll. The devs clearly stated there would be no cliffhangers and all answers would be clearly answered. I can link you to tons of interviews that state just that. Also, they said the ending was extremely definitive. This doesn't sound 'definitive' to me.

Second, everyone keeps saying 'his spoilers are in line with the leaked script.' Just because it was leaked in November does not mean it was the draft they were using in November. It could have ben an early script that they hadn't fleshed out yet (in fact, from what I've heard of the script, it sounds like it's rather ambiguous and doesn't have firm names for people). So, why are we acting like the script was the final deal?

Also, if someone has a link to the leaked script, please (I'm begging you...in order to be more up to speed and not sounding like an ignorant jerk in this conversation) pm me.

Can you back that up a little more than just 'it's real'? I mean, you have to have some authoritative info in order to say something like that.

Why did Bioware think this is a good idea?
