Ï know I would be pretty pissed, surviving all that crap just to be alone for the rest of my life ( or surrounded by strangers decimated by war ).

I dont know the details, but surviving on destroyed planet, without your friends or your love interested, doesnt seems like a happy ending to me.

ok, so apparently there is an ending you can survive... i don't see Bioware making impossible to survive... however... what is all the hype about? You do know that you can save as OFTEN as you want... therefore you can just go back and re play sections that you didn't like the out come on... if you don't have enough war assets, scan the whole damn galaxy until you can't scan anymore!!! I think it will be fine!
Yes, you survive, trapped on the citadel alone with your crew and LI trapped on a far flung planet. Great.

Considering the Citadel's location, it's not particularly trapped. Endor holocaust implications notwithstanding.
Theres pix of it getting destroyed. There is a video on /v/ of the batlle too

I'm thinking with all the secrecy and the sudden change to the sr&coc, that this one is true. They can't prevent the sh*tstorm, but they can make it a lot more civil, esp. rage aimed at BW employees.
Personally, I can deal with the endings, just not those pathetic flashbacks. And in any case, the Mayans were right. Once BSN explodes next week, the ripple effect will cause the world to end later this year.
And the pure money-grabbing potential of this. It's genius. No wonder Drew left.

Rumors are just rumors. It's all gotten out of hand I believe. Enough for an effective immediately code of conduct change to bsn. Probably because some are getting bent out of shape over rumors. Just treat rumors for what they are and find out next week.
As upset as I am about these endigs... the change of conduct is likely in response to a buch of people harrassing a bioware writer to the point of calling her home and making death treats to her family recently. I aprove of them taking action against harasment like that.

I don't understand all the whining about the 'dark' endings where Shepard won't survive. It would be damned outrageous if he did.
In a war with the reapers, a "good" ending would be basically impossible. But in case you haven't noticed, Shepard has spent the last two games doing the impossible. Stopping Saren, going on a suicide mission and living to tell about it, Arrival.
That's the problem most people have with the endings. Bioware has spent the last two games telling us that we can be the Big D*mn Heroes and do the impossible, but in the finale, they take that away. Sure, you still defeat the reapers, but we knew we were going to do that going in (Bioware confirmed awhile ago that there was no "Reapers win" ending). I've yet to see someone claim they don't want any bad endings, they just want an ending where Shepard & co. don't get totally screwed over at the end.
Sadly, it seems like Bioware has fallen into the mentality that "emotionally engaging" your fans involves hitting them over the head with grief, misery, and despair at every opportunity.

Shepard giving his life to give every species in the galaxy a chance to live is the "sweet" aspect. The alternative is turning into reaper-goo. This time around, every species must advance to FTL from the ashes of their near destruction *cue Legion voice* by their own terms. This actually sets up a time skip into future species confrontations quite nicely. It even paves the path for a brand new IP that is an IP sequel to the ME trilogy... brilliant imo. In three hundred years, when humanity achieves FTL again, what will the Council races be like? Will they have killed each other off? What about human colonies that could survive on their own, such as Eden Prime? What if humanity is approached by another species having not achieved FTL tech? What if some species in their Industrial Revolution equivalent, beneath the Reaper's notice, now has a heads up over everyone?
I can't wait to see the next IP.
That said, I don't like that Shepard is separated from his crew for eternity. That's lame. I will have spent three games building up those guys! If anything, Shepard should have been stranded *with* his crew on some unknown planet in uncharted space, with a functional Normandy. Explore areas where no species has ever been...

But then again, the reason why I liked Deus Ex's endings was that each ending made a strong case why it is the best outcome for mankind (nothing like a "give me liberty or give me death" debate). Don't know what case the ME3 is going to make with each of the endings as the best outcome.

I like Hackett, but I think Anderson would be a far better candidate for the flashbacks.
I'm fine with there being an ultimate sacrifce and a merge option. It's nice that there's a "Shepard survives"-ending, but if the "stranded on deserted
Just put Shep and crew back on Earth instead, BW.

I like the endings. It does something that a lot of developers (and TV producers *cough*Lost*cough*) are scared to do: give closure. If this were some ordinary galactic war I would understand the stereotypical "run off into the sunset and everything is A-OK" ending. However, this is the equivalent of a massive porcupine uprising against humanity. Prices must be paid.

- [list=1]
- DLC that has been released previously - LotSB, etc. - has been intended to be played really at any time, but typically people did it after their ME2 games finished. if shep's on earth and the rest of the crew is in an episode of Gilligan's Island for all eternity, that wouldn't make a bunch of sense. don't mean to sound like a pollyanna about it, but if you survive...there might be a way. think of it: suddenly, on mars, we have a new superweapon that drops into our laps! if bioware can do that, they can reconnect the characters later.
- matriarch aethyta in ME2 mentions something about suggesting (to the asari) that they build mass relays themselves...and that's why they laughed the blue off her a** and that's why she's a bartender? maybe there's a contingency plan. i always got that sense after ME1 that with all the reaper tech, we'd be SOL and the universe would need to start over.
- for future ME games, i think bioware's going to go the TOR route and go back a number of years to the Anderson/Sanders/TIM/Grissom/Young Saren route. there's already a fertile field here with all the novels, comics, etc...and you meet a new NPC in ME3 that might make you think that they're laying the foundation....
these are just thoughts that popped into my head after reading this thread. sorry for the wall of tl;dr!!

That'd be a better ending than the "best" ending. Also the fact that it's even an option is surprising. It means The Illusive Man isn't crazy.

The leaked endings don't give closure and kill any chance of a new ME entry or any hype for them. Fans haven't forgiven Bioware for DAII and SWTOR. Now they can't even enjoy ME3 either? Bioware is taking a huge plunge in quality, one time is fine. Two times? It may get better? Three times? The future doesn't look so bright anymore now does it?
This will severely harm Biowares reputation and they wont be able to count on their fans of past games anymore to hype up their games and pass them off from word of mouth. Also, the internet is a terrible beast when angered and it doesn't forget. If the leaks are true than Bioware has single handedly ruined their reputation, over the course of many years, due to their more recent titles simply not bareing the quality Bioware is known for.
Furthermore, Bioware has now set up a history of blatantly ignoring their fans and doing the oposite of what they wanted. DAII is nothing that DA:O fans expected. DA: A was a horrible expansion. Their sales numbers reflect that. How much more will Bioware take befoe shaping up and returning to their roots when they actually cared what their fans wanted and releasing quality work?
