How are the endings bad, how do your choices not matter? Your choices all through the game aren't about you, they're about the galaxy as a whole, the Galaxy isn't screwed, the galaxy survives, they can move on and continue to live, continue to develop, the extinction cycle is broken in most endings, that's the whole point of the series, and that's the end outcome. I'm not going to say it's right or that anyone is stupid, I already said I'd stop posting in this forum but I had this epiphany I thought I should share, maybe these endings make no sense because you haven't played them or seen them with your own eyes. I'm not going to say that Bioware or EA are right or wrong, I'm just going to say that everyone should look from every perspective before they get so angry and feel betrayed. I'm betting your choices do matter, but that your choices aren't about you, they're about the galaxy as a whole which has been Shepards goal from the beginning.

damn I can't even express how much I am nerd raging right now. Screw the romance/LI stuff, the fact that they are seperated is what gets me. If they were all together on the same techless planet, I could deal.

Devs/writers won't say "oh, what a bad move that was", unless it's when they tell us about ME4/ME-MMO.

For now, they'll definitely defend the endings.

Okay what?

You are so selfish in your need to see shepard happy ever ****ing after that you'd rather the WHOLE OF THE GALAXY with tens of millions of people and plants and animals and stuff die JUST so you get to have your fairy princess ending?

SERIOUSLY?

I.. am ...

There are no words to discribe your logic fail and my emotions reguarding it. Seriously. <_<

Derp. It's a fake galaxy.

Like it doesn't exist.

Get off your high horse and get back to reality.

Nope. You're upset that you might not have a happily ever after.

Your reasponse to this is "**** the galaxy. I want Shep-Babies!"

Have you played any of the other games before? These games are about Shepards journy to save the galaxy. Let me bold it this time. These games are about Shepards journy to save the galaxy. They're not about "Disney story time".

The Reapers are trying to EAT THE UNIVERSE.

Even the best possible outcome of stopping that isn't going to be sunshine and ****ing bunnies. Or ****ing like bunnies in the sunshine. It's going to be bittersweet, because Shepard will do what ever it takes, and let me repeat, what ever it takes, to stop it from happening. That probably means any number of ways that he or she will completely lose themselves to this fight -- be it mentally or physically.

And it might not even be stopped. Any number of Shepards might, and will lose. Any number of shepards will fail in one way or another. And even if He/She wins, it's still losing. The Galaxy is going to be changed forever. Planets will be lost, systems, whole speicies. They'll lose the relays (built by the reapers) and be (effectively) cut off from each other for any number of years.

Shepard will lose friends. Shepard will lose loved ones. Shepard will lose themselves.

IT IS THE END OF SHEPARD'S STORY. SO IT WILL END. AND EVEN THE BEST ENDING WILL BE AN END.

So don't tell me to get off my high horse when I'm litterally offended that your response to this is "I don't give a **** if this galaxy that Shepard is suposed to save goes down in flames. I want my happy disney ending."

Because that's not what Shepard wants. And this is Shepards story. You can say all day till your blue in the face that it's not what your Shepard wants, and that's fine. But at the end of the day, it's bioware's game and the story they want to tell is that no matter what, even if you win the war, it's at the cost of the ones fighting it.

So the only person here I see who needs to get off her (or his) high horse is you. If you want a ****ing happy disney ending, write some fan fiction.

The only thing more depressing than this I´ve come across is Clarke´s "Childhood´s End". The voyage doesn´t matter, because the destination made it worthless.

That's the one thread of hope I'm holding onto. It doesn't make sense. A lot of very smart people made this game, and forcing everyone into a hopeless ending is stupid. They're too good to screw up this bad. Hopefully, there's something we don't know that will make this better, or at least make it understandable.

I fear that this was a message to the fans to soften the blow and prepare for what's coming. I really don't know if they would screw up this bad anymore. Looking at CoD (their new favorite fanbase), those people love endings with death. But, having played all of the CoDs (minus 1 and WaW), I can tell you that nothing, nothing at all, is even close to this.

This is how i have always hoped that ME3 would end... Ben Stiller would be Shepard and Robert downey is Garrus...or maybe Joker.

This is gonna be worse than DA2

DA2 ending seems quite desireable at this point. I'd prefer a "and everyone went their separate ways, never to see the hero again (except the LI), and went on with their lives" at this point.

I didn't dislike DA2 ending because it didn't look like a failure. I haven't read a lot about the ME3 endings, so I can just compare DA2 ending with the info I read here on the forums and right now I believe DA2 is much more "pleasing" for the player....

Right? I think MW3 had an even happier ending than this. Yeah, lots of people died, but everything was made right in the end. Wars were ended, and the right people were sent to their deaths.

The choices that matter are those that effect your galactic readiness.  A couple choices from earlier games can make certain outcomes easier or harder.  That's it.  When it comes to the final decision the only think that opens up certain choices is your readiness score and your Para/Ren score.

And if you want depression, go watch a Darfur doc. This is about my Shepard's story, so I don't give a flying f*** what you think. Each person should have to option to forge an ending that they want. That's what the series is about.

And seriously, dude, you have a problem if you thought writing all that was worth it.

Thats really great that you do not want an ending that is all happy and dandy, but I do. Not even that. I just want shepard and the people she cares about to be alive and together. The series has always been about choice. You can have the dark and sad ending, and I want the happy ending. Why are there not choices to have both?

Maybe this is BioWare's way of telling their own story....think about it.

They started out strong and turning things in their favor (BG series), they continued on to make choices that made them grow strong and loved by many (their games since then till DA: O, Mass Effect 1), and now, no matter what they do, everything seems to go to hell, because an almighty entity (rEApers) decend upon them.

The best they can hope for is to sacrifice themselves to blow up the rEApers (make the ending so bad that millions of fans will boycott/destroy EA (one can hope)) and give the people who loved them (the fans) a chance to start anew.

Or am I reading too much into this? XD

Yeah, the difference between the ME3 endings and the alternate ending of Clerks is that it's an alternate ending because Kevin Smith decided not to be so pointlessly cruel.

How does that give away spoilers? If I say "Gladiator doesn't end with a massive piece of cheese falling on Russell Crowe's head," is that a spoiler? No.
