Sorry to post this: Digitaltrends Exclusive Interview with Casey Hudson: Ending Response Included!
rorako

Created 30 minutes ago
http://www.digitaltr...-controversies/

For those that don't want to read the entire interview, I'll copy and paste the question and answer here.

What are your thoughts on the reaction to the game’s endings?
I didn’t want the game to be forgettable, and even right down to the
sort of polarizing reaction that the ends have had with people–debating
what the endings mean and what’s going to happen next, and what
situation are the characters left in. That to me is part of what’s
exciting about this story. There has always been a little bit of mystery
there and a little bit of interpretation, and it’s a story that people
can talk about after the fact.

So....original plan failed, time to rage?

I don't think Casey Hudson understands the meaning of "polarizing". People are not split into radical opinions on both ends of the spectrum, they are banding together to show an unprecedented degree of disapproval. When only 2% of your core fanbase likes the ending, while almost 90% hate it, that's not polarizing.

I was going to say haha... Polarizing is like republicans versus democrats in the states.... unless one of the parties hit 98% approval it's not exactly 'polarized' haha

I know that you can save Mordin, but in doing so you have to have killed Wrex and destroyed Maelon's data. Legion can only be saved if Tali dies, I think... I've heard Thane lives if Kirrahe was saved, but I'm not sure about that one either.

I'm confused. Didn't Kotaku say that we just don't understand/are entitled/etc? What caused the sudden change in their tune? Perhaps their readers coming back to bite them in the ***? lol

Brb. Ugly laughing.

A colour blind person posted here a while ago and said they couldn't even tell the endings apart.

I don't know whether to laugh, sympathize, or ask if you're serious as I had to skip the last 20 pages or so or risk falling far behind.

Oh, it was back a few days ago.

But unless they were lying.. then it seemed they literally couldn't tell the endings apart because the colors were all the same to them.

I'm impressed, the ME twitter spent several hours doing some sort of damage control with decent result, and one interview comment just makes all that work undone again.

But... but... they were talking about the endings! How could they not have...

*eyes grow dim, head tilts down, body collapses to ground. Voice comes on over speakers.*

Forgive us, Shepard-Commander, but the lack of logic caused all systems to reach a critical failure. It seems we've literally died of stupid.

Nope, they murder Thane no matter what. Didn't even bother putting him in the guide, but even Dr. Michel made it in there. Very much not impressed by this game. I could have pre-ordered Diablo III.

SPACE MAGIC :wizard:

After being on this thread so long, I've gained a real appreciation for this :wizard: lovely smiley.
And as for the ending, I can't agree that it is polarizing. It is shockingly unifying in the sense of "what the hell just happened"

Thane dies no matter what.  He flat out tells you that according to the doctors he should have been dead six months before.  He's living on borrowed time, and his death in ME3 allows him to go out as a hero instead of dying a slow, lingering death.  If Thane is already dead, then Kirrahe dies instead.  But Kirrahe only appears on the Citadel if Thane's not around to take the hit.

I suspect that Legion dies no matter what as well.

I was surprised myself since I posted on their own site about how wrong they were regarding us... Just glad to see that they are not  brain dead and can see the truth when it's right in front of them..

Besides, 90% vs 2% makes it hard for anyone to call us a vocal minority...

Or maybe, just maybe they got free of their indoctrination...
Or it was Space Magic? We never know these days...

Keep Holding People... We will make it...

The set of choices at the end of this game were the first ones where I've ever said "I don't want to pick any of those." I like to think of myself as an experienced gamer and I've played enough to have been given many hard choices across many different games but none of them as irritating as this one. They all felt like variants of getting kicked in the teeth and asked to like it.
