Okay so I was just about to dive into the final mission on ME3 when I took a break and...read all about this. Guys, I don't even feel like finishing now. It's not that I wanted my "and they lived happily ever after and Shepard ended up managing a space-pub in...space" ending, it's just that after all those hours, that money (which I'm sure didn't come easy for any of us) and that involvement with the story, getting free will and choices taken away from me at the last minute like nothing really mattered all along is depressing as hell. Not to mention how those three ending choices and that ending as a whole are completely against the themes of the games thus far. (but that would be a huge 'essay' I am not willing to write because it's 5:25am and I should soooooo not be awake right now) I don't care if Shepard lives or dies, I just don't want his/her sacrifice and that of everyone else to mean nothing because "you were doomed from the start hahahaha silly puny human", you know?

Anyway guys, what I'm trying to say is that I'm sorry we're all disappointed, and I'm sorry about how horribly depressing, plot-holey and even more depressing the more you think about it that whole ending is, and I'm with you in whatever fight is going on about this. At least i think we deserve a story without plot holes the size of Mars.

Also, as the cynical little brat that I am, I firmly believe that the story ended in one of those three wholly depressing ways just so we would have no choice but to spend a little more cash on upcoming DLC trying to make it right.

Much love to you all. I should go.

I just wanted to relive better times by bringing back some good writing on the part of Bioware and tweaking it ever so slightly. No real offense is meant, just meant to cheer up the people around here. Most people who don't go this far back may not recognize this, but might still get a laugh out of it.

Dear, sweet, EA,

EA, my friend, I realize I've been less than polite with you
in the past and I wish to apologize. I have played you most false. Indeed! All
know you're an unrepentant ass. 'Tis not my place to say so. Your ugliness,
both in body and soul, thought true, is inappropriate for discussion and rankly
impolite. You're stupid, poorly educated, and always smell faintly of lilacs,
but it was wrong of me to bring attention to it. Arrogant, drunken, priggish,
whiny, pompous are common adjectives used to describe you, but I was wrong to
say so. You are completely incapable of independent thought and soil yourself
with regularity seldom found outside the nursery. I shall no longer bring these
things up in front of the others.

Lovingly, your unrelenting fan,

Jan

Well, after an amazing week of playing this game (and enjoying the anticipation I had getting nearer to the end) I finally finished it today and all I can feel now is utter disappointment and I’m still so shocked that all my choices and all the care I put into my shepards just didn’t really matter in the end.

While I was playing I forgave the small things that I normally would overly criticize , no neutral dialogue tree, no female turians etc. The game was SO good I overlooked those things and still thought the experience was damn near perfect.

But these ending choices left me feeling absolutely gutted. This was a 10/10 game for me and I was expecting a grand finale of an ending that would match the epicness I had experienced so far.  I expected to make tactical decisions, like the suicide mission but on a larger scale. I expected more squad involvement in my final war decisions. I expected a final fight against a big bad. I HOPED to have an ending choice I had to work hard for in order for it to be a happy one

Instead I got 3 endings that were all equally short, depressing, confusing and unsatisfactory as eachother. What’s worse, the outcomes of your big decisions were never shown, what happened to your poor crew is never explained and there was just no damn closure for the characters and universe I’ve come to love so much. The disappointment is so bad I really am in no hurry for a replay, knowing that my shep is just going to die no matter what I do. It puts a depressing spin on all those meaningful interactions with your crew the second time around.

I just...*sigh* I need a hug or something (Literally just finished it an hour ago)

it's not unless they

A: Fix the ending so the mass relays don't go up

B: Make a prequal

C: Space magic in a relay blueprint that someone who still has a functioning manufacturing plant/ assembly ships finds

The article is from last September 27th so who knows what went on behind the scenes between then and release...

It's because of his negative editorial article in Penny Arcade. I'm actually surprised he's saying positive things now =]

Very easily.  "The ME universe" != "Shepard."  There's been rumours of an MMO, and there are many ways new single-player games could be set in... what's left... of the ME universe.  Of course, they have to sort the bloody mangled mess that is this ending first.  I can picture the discussion...

"Well, we'd like to set another game in the ME universe.  We've trashed all the Mass Relays, wiped out a sizable number of planets, made Joker and EDI into Adam and Eve on some nameless random garden world they mysteriously teleported to, made the one of the players' favorite characters they chose as a RI into a grieving traumatized widow, and stranded everyone who was at all interesting or helpful in orbit around a demolished Earth... providing, of course, they survived the explosion of the Citadel.  What have we got to work with?"

"..."

"...hey, how about Dragon Age 3?"

just get page sode not exist or something what did it say?

The link seems to have an extra space at the end which nerfs it.  Backspace over the trailing space in the URL and it works.  Just in case:  https://twitter.com/...763199783084033

I love the snooty whining replies he gets, and how often people toss around the word "entitlement" when they have no idea what it means.

Most of them have no idea what this is about so they go to the things they hear in the media "entitled", "whiners" etc.

Believe me when I say everyone here has experienced exactly the same feelings. Its just so gutting to go through such an amazing game, and to have it utterly ruined by about 15 minutes of content. I really don't feel like putting another Shepard through the game as it stands, because I know that no matter what I do, the ending is going to be terrible.

In fact, I don't really want to go through any of the past games as well, which makes me very sad.

Anyway, you mentioned something about a hug.

*Hugs*

Exactly. There are other media outlets that have perfectly highlighted the problem with the ending. I don't care if they like the ending. That is their right....but the plot holes? I don't know how people can ignore that and the horrible God Child/Casper/Star Child/Harbinger? thing.

Hi guys, I've been lurking on the thread waiting for the 1 day gag to expire on this account.

I finished mass effect 3 a couple days ago, and up until the end it was probably my favorite example of storytelling in a game ever. Then I got to the last 20 minutes and I was confused and horrified at the way it played out. I thought that maybe the synthesis ending I'd chosen was the secret terrible ending, but sadly affter watching the other endings on youtube I had to accept the truth. I tried to start a second playthrough with my femshep, but I wasn't able to continue after Palaven. I've played the odd lol match in the past 3 days but haven't been able to play anything else since.

Last night I came across this thread and was relieved to find a large amount of people who's complaints echoed my own almost perfectly. I was also pleased to see these people mostly voiced their complaints in a civil tone and kept the amount of flaming to a minimum. Furthermore you guys have raised $25,790 for charity as of this moment, and while donating I was glad to know that we were able to channel our grievances into a cause that, even if ultimately unsuccessful, undeniably put some good into this world.

For what it's worth: Reporting in from Montreal, I'm ready to hold the line!

Welcome, and it's worth a lot!!

Yea. But to counter his argument that the endings are fine, I would ask this: " why are retailers droping the price of ME3 in less then two weeks after launch? Don't you think the ending has something to do with this?"
